Malifaux Resurrectionist proxy (West Wind Gothic Horror range)
« on: October 31, 2010, 08:07:21 PM »
I love Malifaux, but find the original models too damn expensive for a student like me. My way around it was to use the fitting range of Gothic Horror/Vampire wars models from West Wind. Put together a list of pictures and what the models are used as , and if the model has been converted , and if so with what / how.

Thought that there might be more people out there tempted by the game but put back by the price of models. You can find models for pretty much all factions within the Gothic Horror range. I would also advice on checking out Reaper Miniatures - one of my friends also uses models from Reaper, Foundry and West Wind for his Neverborn gang.

Nice conversions and PJs - I'll go through your blog later as I really like your modelling style.

Boy are you in for a treat, I love Anatoli's SOTR stuff favourute thread on the SOTR forum, some amazing stuff. Lovely work on the Malifaux proxy's, I love this game, one of the best and most inovative systems I have played, very well put together, they have been very clever with how the various gangs interact with the rules, giving each a distint flavour and style, but most important a lot of fun to play. Needs to be more widely appreciated. Wish I had thought of this idea, would have saved me a fortune on mini's.

Thanks guys  :)

@Elysium, currently painting 2 more crooked men proxy models from West Wind, I'm almost done just bases and varnishing left. Check the blog tomorrow for pictures of them  :)

Have 4 zombies and 2 more Rotten Belles before my entire collection of Malifaux proxy models will be finished.

And yeah it is a fantastic game, I've had a blast each time I've played it. In recent weeks I really learned how to play with all 3 Resurrectionist masters, learned their tricks and how to best use them.

2 models from West Wind Gothic Horror range (the range from which pretty much all my Malifaux models come from)

Malifaux "Crooked men" for my Resurrectionist faction.

More pictures of these two gentlemen can be found on my blog here:

Nice mate, remember to keep a balance of blog and posted piccies here as some of us are a bit blog-phobic. ;)

So SOTR, Malifaux and CofC (Strange Aeons) what else you working through?

I'll keep that in mind CommanderVyper.

Well, the games I play and in the order of getting into them

SoTR
This Very Ground
Legends of the Old West
Malifaux
Strange Aeons

I have complete and painted forces/platoons/gangs/whatever for all games. So I'm just pretty much adding bits and pieces to them all. No huge painting projects going on at the moment. I should probably  take a few group pictures of the Malifaux and Strange Aeons stuff as soon as I paint up the remaining models I have at home for those two games.

A lot of the new stuff for Strange Aeons (the humans at least) will work double for Legends of the Old West as well, as civilians, Pinkerton agents etc.

My wargaming club also started a huge project building a SoTR demo table, I myself am thinking about building more houses suitable for Legends of the Old West/Malifaux/Strange Aeons in balsa before Christmas as well. Love that material, easy to work with and one can build 1-2 buildings per day if you have the time for it.

I'm also very pleased that many of my miniature wargames can do crossovers in terms of models and terrain. Saves both shelf space and money.
