Remember these?

Some progress:

Tops flattened and a sheet of plasticcard added. Freehand stuff based on a Fallout sketch and the old Philips logo. Quick and dirty. Next.

It's amazing how much better simple plastic containers look with some graphic elements and some weathering.

Quick, someone ask him how he did the rust!  :D

Now that u mention it    I did it a bit diff this time, just a brown wash over  white base, covered with red with bits left open for some flat brown. The effect is less effective when compared to my normal method, but the time saved is handy for other things. It is just for scenery, after all, and I wanted to try something less orangy this time.

Still, good to know u like and yes, simple things with a decent paintjob are so much more usefull.

Wow.  They look cool as heck.

I'm not following how you made the tops smooth...just filed them down???

Well, the original tops were ribbed lenghtways and had 2 big holes in them. I used the sander to remove the top ribs and make it a flat, smooth durface, then applied regular plastics glue and a sheet of 0.5 Styrene to cover it up, then sanded that again on the sides.

A little bit of hard work for a decent result.

The undersides are still open though.
