TSATF = The Sword and the Flame, the classic set of colonial wargame rules, still very popular today. I don't think it has anything to do with Savage Worlds. Unfortunately I am unfamiliar with the VSF variant, in fact didn't know there was one (which will surprise nobody around here, I suspect  ;)).

The variant was mentioned on the Victorian Science Fiction board of TMP.  I have never heard of it as well.  Just wondering if anyone else has seen or heard of it.

I'm afraid I've never heard of it either.
I use TSATF for my VSF games, with the only alterations being extra rules for vehicles etc. Take a look at the Major General's site for ideas on modifying the set;

I believe TSATF was adapted for large VSF games set on Mars and Venus at the Northwest Historical Miniatures Gaming Society's Enfilade convention in Olympia, Washington, but I don't know if there was a published variant used.

Usually the first place to look for The Sword and the Flame variants is the Jackson Gamers' web site on Angelfire.  The author, Larry Brom, was long associated with the gamers in Jackson, Mississippi, and I think that's where both The Sword and the Flame and "Brom's Standard Rules" (for larger actions) where developed.  They don't list a VSF variant, but maybe some ideas from other variants might be useful, especially the WW2 variant:

By the way, there are some interesting games pictured on the Jackson Gamers' web site, so it's worth browsing around.
