Foundry's Mike Owen stuff... a question
« on: August 31, 2007, 09:20:32 AM »
I know the old Foundry stuff was sculpted by Mark Copplestone and is decidedly smaller than the Mike Owen newer stuff and the latter is what most of my humble beginning of my collection contain.

I wondered if someone could answer this for me. Did Mike Owen sculpt the Mountain Man range and Apaches in that range for Foundry?

While I'm on that topic, who sculpted the Mexican Peasants, Peons and Soldiers for the Mexican leg of the range?

The Apaches, and the Mexicans were by Copplestone. There were some Mexicans originally made for the Maximillian wars by Foundry many years ago. I think they were done by Aly Morrison. They are even smaller than the early Copplestone ones.
I think it was Mike Owen who did the mountain men. He also did the Blackfoot Indians that went with them.

It was mike Owen who sculpted the Mountain Man range and Blackfoot indians for the Foundry. As Malamute has already said the Apaches were by Mark Copplestone. Mikes got some Apaches in his Artizan Old West range as well.

Thanks gents. Too bad about the Mexicans. I like Mike's new Artizan banditios but the Peons and Villagers from Foundry would have rounded out my Mexican village nicely if they weren't the small Copplestone stuff.

I think the Mexicans by Copplestone will be ok. Who needs huge big tough peons. They are supposed to be meek and mild
If you are still not convinced try Dixon Miniatures they do peons and bandits.Although you might have to accept some odd poses and cabbage heads.

The Black Scorpion Mexicans take some beating in my humble op.

But they are rather on the tall and slim side.

Def bandidos not peons.

True enough.

Actually I heard the gospel on this topic by the man himself. Mike was kind enough to reply to an email I'd sent him. He also stated he has the Copplestone Peons and uses them with his own stuff without any complaints. How can you argue with that??!!
