Indian Matchlock Unit
« on: 22 November 2010, 06:09:48 AM »
This is the first time I've ever plucked up the courage to post images of my own painted stuff on LAF. These figures will stand in as European trained troops in our Indostan campaign.

I do not consider myself, in any way, shape or form, to be in the league that the majority of LAF'ers seem to fall in, but I do think my painting has improved. They are painted with acrylic house paints and Army Painter (there you go - that proves my "skills" are surely lacking). Please be gentle!  ;)

Nothing wrong with those at all, they look great. In fact if you are not happy with them I would be more than happy to take them and use them as opposition for my Brits.

They're lovely Frank. Maybe not up to LPL champion class, but far better than I could manage. They are to a standard I feel I could achieve, unlike some of the others we see, which obviously involve a pact with the devil at the crossroads  ;)

I love looking at your stuff on the blog so please post more here soon!

I'm not just being polite when I say they look really nice. It would be great to see some more pics in the future. Nice use of colour by the way  :)

Beautiful work, sir!  :-* I like the effective way you've done that shade of mauve, too.  :)

Look pretty decent to me.   :)  "House paints" you say? Could you be more specific on brand/colours?  (Always interested in paints.  :)  )

Shame on you, for not showing them before... :)

Very nice indeed, Sir, very nice...

And, please do tell about the housepaint.
Best regards

Thanks all for looking and being so kind - LAF is really such a nice place.  :)

When I say "house paints" I mean standard interior wall paint sold at the local hardware store.

In particular I do use an Australian brand called Dulux, but to my knowledge it is just acrylic "house" paint.

The white is a color called "Bone White" and the mauve is called "Vivid".

I find nice big pots so much more easier to use then little GW pots (plus you get a lot more) and the paint seems nicer to mix.

Most of my Indostani figures are clad in white and I had real troubles with GW white in the past, so one day while doing a terrain piece, I just slapped some "house paint" on some minis and my hatred of painting white was lessened.
