"Come and take it!"
« on: November 24, 2010, 03:35:55 PM »
On the 1st October 1835  Captain Francisco Castaneda along with 200 men of the Dolorez cavalry regiment arrived in Gonzales, Texas under orders to remove a small cannon given to the Texian residents to ward off Indians. The small piece was mounted on a carriage made from a tree trunk with crude wheels.

The Texians steadfastly refused to give up the gun. On 2nd October there was some parleying, a demonstration by the Mexican cavalry near the town, and considerable yelling and taunting by the Texians, who dared the Mexicans to "come and take it!" echoing the words emblazoned on their newly created battle flag flying in the breeze.

The cannon was fired and the Texians advanced on the Mexican cavalry. After a brief skirmish the Mexicans retired and rode off towards San Antonio De Bejar. The war for Texan Independence had begun!

Colonel Moore proudly waves the "Come and take it" flag next to the gun.

Colonel Moore is a converted Boot Hill Figure.

The gun and accessories sculpted by our very own, very talented Duhamel will soon be available as a limited release via Boot Hill Miniatures.

Very nice work. If I was converting the colonel myself I'd be tempted to swap his shotgun for a linstock, but he is much more versatile with the shotgun.

Will do Senor.

Yep just head swap, green stuff neck tie, removed top hat from hand and filed the mountain lion head off the satchel.

Lovely work Nick on the miniature and to Duhamel on the artillery piece.

Let me know when you have the artillery piece available as I'm interested.

My project for this period has been put back for another year, but when you have limited additions its "Come and Grab it!" :-)

Cheers,

Helen
Best wishes,
Helen

Very frustrated to have had to put these figures on hold temporarily.

Very nice!

Gracias,

Nice little diorama and cannon... I think they'd be good for a range of pursposes!  :)

Looking forward to it being available...
