Here is my first attempt painting some Pirates, I have started with Blackbeard and I think it came out pretty well.

The rest of his Palls are to follow

Awesome! I particularly like the somehow pale tones of the cloth.

Reminds me that I have a Reaper Blackbeard which still demands painting... or he´ll have me walk the plank.

This is a really nice paintjob. I like especially the face and the blade.

Very nice. Subtle painting, beautifully done.

Again, excellent technique. However, in this case, I think that the facial shadows and highlights are too harsh and let her appear too masculine - of course, that´s also due to the sculpting and, in particular, the hairdo (or lack of hair if seen directly from the front)... a little more softness or colour might have been better, but I´d have to see the figure in real life for a final verdict. Maybe add just another little touch of rosy skintone to her lips?

Anne Bonney was a better man than some of her shipmates, so having her appear masculine is probably not an issue!

Once again, lovely subtle shading on the figure, particularly the rose color of her pants and the gold fringe on her vest. And the whites and reds are done well, and I think those are the hardest colors to do properly.

Mary Reade and Anne Bonny look like blokes in all the contemporary depictions I've seen of them.

(Apart from the Anne Bonny Page 3 shoot, the one where she is showing off her puppies while firing a pistol.)

Apparently, I´ve been thoroughly spoiled by Hollywood - I prefer my pirate lasses to look like Spitfire Stevens.

Here's the one I mentioned, in case anybody was interested (from a purely historical point of view, of course):

Seems Mary got in on the glamour shoot, too:

And here's the pair of them looking as rough as:
