Playmobil plastic pirate ships are great, if you want lots of room on deck for a boarding action.

Mega Bloks plastic pirate ships are also great, and are similar in size to the Playmobil ships, but require a bit more work to get rid of the little bumps and install proper decks. Fortunately, grooved decking material is available in both wood and styrene (a plastic) from ship and train modelling suppliers.

Both types of plastic toy pirate ships are larger than most of the resin pirate ships.

Regarding the old Dixon (not currently listed) ships. I am talking with Trevor about us re-moulding these as the origonal models have now come to light again. Mike Brooks used to cast these for Dixons and If I can salvage the masters then it may just be back on the menu later this year

I have now got the three master models all repaired by Robin Hill who sculpts for me. I have bought these from Dixons so they will now become part of the Ainsty Range. Rubber is on order for the moulds so they should be ready to put back on sale shortly. Metalwork for them will be cast for me by Trevor at Dixons so everything will be as it was before on these models.

I would like to use some of the LAF members photos for the website, if anyone would be so kind as to give permission I shall be glad to offer a voucher for their use

Wish I could help, but I don't have any of the models. Will the models be available for the U.S. Customers?

Yes they will be available worldwide, but shipping may be expensive as they are heavy bits of kit!

That is great news on the ships.

Any chance you could partner with Old Glory (who produce some nice resin vessels), and/or other manufacturers on the US side of the pond, in order to save us a bit on international shipping?

I'd be very appreciative of that, and imagine many others here in America would as well.

Joel is the person to talk to at Old Glory about that, I believe.

I will put some pics up in a day or so.

Thanks for the offer Malumute, the Dracula thread is excellent and the pictures so atmospheric too. much appreciated

I will send an email over to Old Glory and see what transpires.

Happy to do a bulk order when in production and have a shipping courier take a large parcel, might work out cheaper that way if enough people over there can get together?

Thanks for checking with Old Glory.

That is greatly appreciated, since I imagine air shipment will be a killer, with today's high fuel prices.  Hopefully, that will drop to more reasonable levels, eventually.

Is ocean shipment, with insurance still an option from the UK?

I used to use that, or ISAL, on a lot of orders that were heavy, in order to save money on shipping costs, when I could plan ahead, and didn't need items urgently.

Heres a preview gallery. they will each come with wooden dowell masts and a selcetion of metalwork from those in the bags. Thats about 1 set for the large ship in the picture

Lanterns, Anchors, Hatchs and covers etc.

28mm figures used for illustration from my own collection, photo quality not great and I know the sea is the wrong colour

Dixons will be casting the metal parts and Trevor is moving workshops at the moment so I cant say for sure how quickly he can be ready to supply me metals. I hope to be casting the Hulls in around a week.

Once I get the moulds made I will put a note on here and allow pre-orders on the web shop. ships will of course be despatched in the order that orders come in.

Great to see these back in production, in my opinion the best of all the model ships that have been produced over the years. :)

I am sorely tempted to buy the big galleon..... :D
