Shopping Carts - need help!
« on: December 05, 2010, 06:45:37 PM »
Can anyone tell me if there are premade shopping carts out there in a roughly 28mm scale? My google-fu appears to be weak, as all I can find is the every single model train supply out there just directs me to their 'shopping cart', which of course is empty.

 o_o o_o o_o >:(

I need them for my Fallout Behemoth - which I finally found an appropriate figure to use to make.

Black Cat Bases do them, but no picture on the website

Huh, I'll have to email them and see if I can get a pic.

Man, if you are looking to get empty shopping carts, they would be a pain in the ass to model. The only practical way to do it would be to photo etch them (a technique I find quite difficult to master even though I have the tools for it).

They would however look great on a zombie board or (having just seen The Road) on a post apocalyptic ditto.

I've considered photo-etching these as well. What a PITA, sadly...

Thinking about the barrier of grocery carts that the father built in the apartment stairwell in 28 Days Later - there's your "Difficult Ground" terrain type!

I would think that you could find these in plastic from a good Railway Hobby Source.  Companies like Preiser make shopping carts in HO scale...  I would think that they have them also in O or S scale.

For photo etch, this guy already has one in 1/48 scale

I think the $16 is for 1/24 scale.  The 1/48 ones appear to not be in the shop yet.  I bet a quick e-mail would get an availability date...

Nice little model though...

You would think someone would be making them, but I haven't been able to find them yet. Those photo-etched ones are pretty sweet, though.

At this scale, it's probably detail-overkill to try modelling the one uncooperative wheel that every single damned grocery cart I drive seems equipped with!!!

Danny the Chimp made his own out of some folded wire mesh. Looked great.

I don't know if there's any pictures on the Forum, but I'll have a word next time I see him and ask him to pop by and explain how he did it.

My attempts at scratchbuilding them have been at best laughable, and at worst, painfully inept.

Yes, show us the Chimps creation please. The etch one looks terrific.

Another thought, we call them "trolleys" not carts, may make a difference in search criteria?
