More spincasting goodness
« on: September 05, 2007, 01:19:11 PM »
Tested my second mold yesterday, here are the results:

The detail reproduction is quite good, much better than is visible in the picture.
The hand with the meat hook of the guy on the right is separate, the other two are one-piece castings. I'll probably paint them tonight, if time allows.

I particularly like the outcome of the prison cell door. To be honest I hadn't expected that parts as thin as the bars could be cast at all. Next are some wrought-iron victorian fences, and if these work, I'll try out a skeleton in a cage, or something like that.

If it wasn't for Spiel and DUZI and the accompanying work amount, I might even do that, in spite of my painting being a bit rusty at the moment. Oh well, I might do it all the same :)

I am a bit pissed at the door at the moment, the last four or five castings went straight back in the pot. Must have hit a particular combination of mold pressure, spin speed and metal temperature with the good ones. Some more trying to be done...
