Just out of curiosity, how does a systemless/ruleless roleplaying game "work"?

I second this question.  :D

I really have no idea what I'm doing.

it works like a book where there is one master (or not), but the players are like "minor masters"...

we play IRL almost ruleless, and i've written a short (110+ pages) story with a friend via email.

it works, of course you need people who are not child and maybe a bit experienced! ^^

Sorry I've not got back to anybody, been a hectic day. Basically the story runs as  you work together to write a story, good examples of how we would play by email are used here: http://roleplayerguild.com/f33/

Sangennaru was spot on with his description of the game

Simply find a game on here that interests you and read through the dialogue, you basically have a character each and work together to write a story I personally enjoy it very much.

Also, the setting can be anything you want, we would sort it out over Email, I'm happy to play anything.
Thank you for the interest everybody
Steve

p.s most of the games on that website involve love but you can get the general idea of how they pan out.

Sounds like a cool concept. How many people are needed/admitted?
I'm not a native speaker, so elaborate writing style would be an issue. Otherwise, I'd be interested.

if you want to, i could join... but i'm not english too, and my english, even if i can say whatever i want, is not enought elaborate for the style of writing i like!

i played mostly via email on a SF settings i putted on. nothing specific, i just made a list of all the physics laws and limits, and decided to keep almost all them (included the speed of light!)

took a look to the site... i don't like that style very much. i'm used to write almost half a page for each "turn", and that is pretty different: in that time both the characters move, and the player have to decide to move his char, but also to side-move the other one.

it works, of course you both have to decide together what will be the plotline in the near future.
but, seriously, the quality cames out pretty good!
