Arcturus Dust Stuff - The russians are coming! 11-08-2013

I've started to refine the figures from the Dust Tactics basic edition. So here's the first american squad and hero.

Details:

Bazooka Joe:

Photo quality isn't that good but i hope they'll do anyway.
Any comments are very welcome.

Nice simple repaints, good table fodder, just not keen on the positioning of old glory on the shoulderpads.

That's exactly what they're supposed to be - table fodder. No beauty queens.

As to the flag decal: I have to admit it really looks a bit sloppy, that's not so obvious on the miniature watched from 90 cm above. And i think it's on the wrong shoulder, at least if i take the WWII movies i've watched recently.

Both points will be corrected with the next squad. :D

The Russians are coming! I managed to do some converted Walkers for my Weird Russians. The version sold by Dust studio/FFG of this Walker comes on a stolen biped German Chassis, i never liked this idea and so they had to be mounted on AT-43 Dotch Yaga's. They still fit perfectly on one Dust square so everything is fine rulewise, too.

What are your thougts on the markings? I'm pretty happy with it. The Walkers look less boring, but i'm not sure if the markings on the legs are a bit too much.

Nice conversions! I like the paint job, but I wold eliminate the white markings on the legs. The ones on the turret look great! Nice job!

I'm not fond of the Dust minis either. However, I love the Dust, and old AT-43 Mechas. I've converted a number of them for my SoTR armies!  lol

The good thing about the Dust minis is that they forgive quite a bit of rough handling. You can just grab a whole squad with one hand and move it. So they allow to speed big games up.  Metal and even hard plastic minis would be bend and broken with this kind of treatment. Poses are a matter of taste of course.

And the Heavy Power armoured infantry for all factions from Dust Tactics is among the best i have seen so far.

Thanks for the comments. I think i will keep the striped legs.

I think some of the DUST minis are quite good...others are horrible.  The Chinese conscript infantry which ship with the Russian helo I bought are really quite nice (shrug).  Great work on the walkers.  Not a fan of those US infantry (poses or the colours really).  Brushwork looks well done though.
