Another bad photo, this time some Empress artillery... Hopefully photo quality will be better when the sun returns in spring.

9pdr Hales rocket + crew

The accuracy problem [of rockets] was greatly improved in 1844 when William Hale modified the rocket design so that thrust was slightly vectored, causing the rocket to spin along its axis of travel like a bullet. The Hale rocket removed the need for a rocket stick, travelled further due to reduced air resistance, and was far more accurate.

I tried to take a few more photos and I think the one below is a little bit better, but still not the best. I will probably have to wait untill summer or bring my collection for a photoshoot somewhere else at some point.

I might need to give the mounted artillry officer an eye makeover, he is looking just a little bit too surprised.

I know it is an often used excuse, but I really do think my painting skills are much better than my photo skills, so hopefully I will have some better photos to show at some point, but at least I can take photos to show progression in my forces.

The Da Vinci Tank, I have no idea which forces is going to use this and I am not planning an Italian force at the moment.

British 7pdr kanon and crew, to add some more punch to the British artillery section... I have one more on my painting table.

Tobsen miniatures, I guess. Nice paintjob on those miniatures by the way!

Only one option for that - the Papal Panzer Division. Now who makes Swiss Guards-esque vehicle crews... lol ;)

Nice work on all. I really like the metal look on the gunbarrels.

The Da Vinci tank is made by Tobsen, but produced and sold by Black Army Production, I took advantage of a sale they had in December.

I am really a sucker for the Empress miniatures and for a long time I could hardly go a month without bying new models, but it has been a bit slower with painting them. At the moment I have no money for new models, so it seems I get more painted when I can't use all my time shopping on the internet...

Our dinner table has been cleared today as we had my parents in law at a visit, so tommorrow I will try and take advantage of the empty table and set up my entire collection for a group shot.

That's beautiful work on the DaVinci, Jonas. I'm glad it made it to you safely:)

I'm planning to use some as Martian vehicles for my VSF project. Primitive enough, I think, to work.

You can get the DaVinci Tank here:

www.blackarmyproductions.com (in the "Engines of War" range.)

Thanks for the comments.

Here is a terrible picture of my painted British army and their allies (I have left out some of my collection though, stuff like 20 Wargames Factory brits and such)

I have made the picture clickable with a link to a larger version.

This picture is not taken to show off my painting skills, rather just to show how large my collection has become over the last 2 years.

Besides this I also have Mushroom men, a few Russians, some models which were painted badly and needs a touch up, I probably forgot something too and last but not least I have tons of unpainted stuff too.

If someone wants to look at better pictures of some of my stuff, please visit the Random Encounters blog. It only have my older stuff though, but will be updated next time we have a photo session. (The blog also feature Thorbjørns Prussians and much other VSF and non VSF goodness)

[timid voice] Er, ah, where's the kitchen sink? [/timid voice]

Oh, you don't normally field them at the same time?  ;)

 :-*

It's a great collection with some really super characters and mechanical devices.

I think my favorite is still the Royal Mail Rifle Corps.

Thanks gang.

Usually I don't deploy the entire army at the same time, but it has been known to happen every now and then...

I am quite happy about the rifle corps too, actually I have another squad standing half painted on my paint station, they should be ready any day now (or later, depending on my focus)
