Ok so had about 40mins to myself tonight so had a little play with a pair of snowtroopers.

As I've said before, the issue with WEG minis is that some ranges come in only one or two poses. Case in point with the snowtroopers, one pose, which is a little...lets just say limiting. But hey they are (were originally as cloning was outlawed by the Emperial Senate I know! ;)) clones after all. :D

So with limited pose and limited options I've been thinking about ways to add a little difference. So I've converted two of the poorer quality castings, (which needed a bit more clean up) from normal E-11 Blaster to Long barrelled blasters (BlasTech DLT-19 Heavy Blaster Rifle), (or MG34's to you and me ;)).

So into the WWWII bitz box and two BAM MG34's and a bit of clipping and carving I've swopped the weapons over. They don't look three bad, ideally the limbs should have been cut and resculpted but I'll save that task for the E-web cannon operator I've got planned.

Camera's charging so pics hopefull later if not tomorrow.

In the meantime a little mish mash photo of stuff seen, stuff to finish, stuff to base and stuff pulled out of the attic, the two AT-ST's are the KFC toy giveaways (from '97 when the triology was special editionised!) Yes woefully out of scale but gaming stand in until I get the ActionmFleet ones, but perfectly usable I reckon..

Cheers

They look great. You are right the conversions are limited on WEG miniatures but it's pewter so more difficult to convert than plastic minis.

Well pewter doesn't phase me, it was a suprise how little pressure I had to use to cut it, used to higher non-lead content these days. That's what you get for cutting up 24ish year old minis!  :D

Just lightly undercoated, will go back with the wet and dry before I paint them properly, as I say, look ok, could do with a bit more weight/weapon 'drop' but that means major limb resculpt, probably try that on number three.

Oh and I found this picture on my reference trawls, love it!  :-*

:-* Excellent work so far.  I could insert any number of SW quotes to make my point but I think everyone has done a pretty good job of that so far.   :D ;)

I'm really enjoying this and all the other SW threads around just now, nostalgic!

To be honest last time I watched the films was years ago, on VHS! I'll need to see what I can do about that.

Cheers

This my friends is not a happy post:

I'll call him rover.

I found rover on an ebay search a few nights back, poorly advertised, unloved, no clear title, just some size measurements in the text....and £2 bid with £2.98 postage!

So rover, I thought...is coming home to me.

I then get a bid retraction...the guy's two year old son has smashed it to pieces!  :o

Ok, bit fishy so I press the issue. Rover was disposed of in the bin in bits and the bin men have been.

So rover is no more  :'(

Damn shame. I still would have taken his broken little body and maybe with a bit of tlc nursed him back to health...or made a fitting 'down rover' monument for the gaming table.

Rover RIP

Oh well will keep looking for more! Plenty more AT-AT's in the tundra

:D

Might do a few bits tonight, keep you posted.

Damn shame mate - it could happen to anyone.  :(

On a brighter note, I got 2 shiney new wotc AT-ATs in the post today, so its not all bad news.
