Firefly/Serenity for VSF?
« on: January 12, 2011, 05:48:15 PM »
Call it a strange manifestation of cabin fever here in the snowy Midwest, but I've been musing on a VSF equivalent to the wonderful characters from Josh Whedon's Firefly and Serenity. It struck me that they'd make an excellent gaming feature, either manning a tramp steamer or ether flyer equivalent. Who can resist the thought of Captain Mal "aiming to misbehave?"  ;)

Since my Google-fu is weak today (cabin fever...  o_o ) can anyone suggest likely figures of Mal, Kaylee, et al?

Not sure if you've seen this thread (link), but there are many suggestions for Serenity/Firefly characters that you might consider as being equally suitable for a VSF version.

Traveler Man: Thanks for putting this lousy deep freeze to such good usage.

Did you have a preference for locale? I could easily see Mal as a Red Captain of Mars.

On the other hand, the Sea of Serenity is lunar... ;->=

Thanks for the response! The Reaper figures are indeed nice. Although they look a tad too modern for Victorian-style gaming, it's my campaign world and what I say goes.  ;)

I'm thinking in terms of either a tramp steamer wandering the sea lanes of Earth, or else a Red Captain Mal version ether/aerial flyer doing the same on Mars.

I prefer the Heresy  models to the reaper ones - (which is odd, I'm a huge reaper fan)

Nathan (very acceptable for VSF)

Haylee

There is a Rev too, but the pic seems to be down.

Sgt. Major Miniatures has some not serenity minis as well - a little rougher but still pretty cool - and the price is right. I have the doctor and the the pilot.

Have to agree with you on the preferences, though the not-Inara is sweet, though needing a different coifure.  :D

I've always fancied the governors daughter from Black Scorpion for Inara

Like Sneakgun I selected most of my Firefly figures from the Reaper Chronoscope line of figures:
Zoe=Sascha Dubois, Time Chaser 50001 and
 Eleen Stone, Cowgirl 50003
Jayne= Kirby McDowell, Space Privater 50028
Shepherd Book=Mike Noe, Biker Boss 50047
Mal= Space Hero 50123
Kaylee= Rosie Chronotechnican 50016
River=Candy, Anime Heroine 50024
Wash= Jake Ryan, Hero Explorer
I can't remember the name and number of my Inara but she is a Reaper figure but not Chronoscope.  The figure I selected for the doctor was from RAFM but can't remember that name or number either.
Great series; great movie!
