A new Victorian build project - **UPDATE 1st FEB**
« on: January 22, 2011, 02:53:28 PM »
As part of the Victorian build project I promised myself a bank so set to work a few weeks ago. For the front I used one of Paul Smith's excellent frontages available from Outpost Wargame Services.

As this build developed I realised the generic nature of the frontage and the way I had designed the rear yard gave the building more than a single identity so now it's a bank or police station or posh house or hotel depending on the scenario. Tadaaa!
The skylight on the rear extension will be handy for breaking into the building or escaping depending on what it's used for.

The frontage is resin and the frame is a mixture of foamboard and foamed PVC. The brickwork is embossed plastic and the roof cardboard.
Here's the basic design:

The roof was a pain in the arse as I haven't built one with this shape before. I decided to use a frame to ensure the structure had equal angles. To be honest it didn't really work but I blame it on cider. Note to self: dont drink cider and build a roof.

I've finished the front and added lighting, railings etc. I haven't decided what to do with the windows yet. The roof is still to be painted.

Here's the back. Nowhere near as exciting as the front I'm afraid. Cobblestones for the yard and a gate have yet to be added before the paint is slapped on. The walls look wonky because they aren't glued in place yet.

I wasn't going to post any pictures until the build was completely finished but I need the incentive to get it finished as my mind is already wandering on to the next build.....

The master builder at it again :o :o :o
Lovely stuff. :-* :-* :-*
Where did you get the fence out front and the spikes on top of the wall from?
I think the detail out the back is great. The stairs and the sky light really finish it off.

Ooooh, thanks for the generous comments chaps. That's my inspiration back!  :)

Paint the windows with a little bit of dark blue/grey and then coat with gloss varnish.
Thanks matey, I'll give that a go.

I will make it so.

Where did you get the fence out front and the spikes on top of the wall from?
I got the fence from this seller on ebay (lots of other fences and goodies in their shop):

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2-Metre-model-fence-Scale-1-100-F100-4-/120436991609?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item1c0a9aa679

The fence arrived in seven days and a bargain for two meters of the stuff! For the walls it's easy to cut the top strip with the spikes from the rest of the fence, once done stuck each strip straight onto the wall.

Brilliant!
