Romans in a day!
« on: February 02, 2011, 06:29:56 AM »
I just posted some photos of the Roman Veterans I painted in a day for my Strike Force Commander game.

You can see them here http://4sparta.blogspot.com/

Feedback is always welcome!

Happened by these this morning when I was looking at your blog, really nice. Can't believe that it took only a day, even with dipping.

P.S. the pics on your blog are a little small and when I click on a pic I don`t get a larger version. I would like to see them close up (if possible)  :)

Great stuff

Yeah, I'm hearing the small pic feedback.  I'll see if I can get some larger ones sized in.

I had a single minded purpose, and knocked it out.  I paint pretty fast, and clean the first time through, so it saves a lot of time.

OK! New update with larger pics and the addition of some Romans vs Gauls shots with my friend Drew's Gauls.

All minis are by Warlord Games and we both used Army Painter Quickshade dip.

Enjoy!

The D&D minis are all Reaper.  Jagger Kilmane is two figures combined.  One by Werner Klocke and the other by Tre Manor.

I like those veterans! But what I really like is your dipping technique, it is much more subtle than I have normally seen. Also, nice work on the Cleric of the Raven Queen and the Maurader warhounds.

Thanks Damien.  My dipping technique is 13 shakes, and then to daub off especially heavy collections of dip as the mini dries.

The only figs I've dipped are the Dark Elf Scouts, Minotaur, and Romans.  Everything else is my ink method.

They look great! Very impressed with the speed you've done them in. I managed 10 minis (painted traditionally) in one day last week but it was literally dawn till dusk painting with very little in between.

Dipping is something I've been thinking about doing but as I'm not sure if it's for me don't really wana to spend so much initially on the dip for me to then use it once and hate it.

Gotta agree your dipping technique looks very nice too.

Thanks for the dipping technique, now how about a run down of your ink technique as well  ::) 'cause I looked at your older posts on your blog (2010, 2009) and your painting is fantastic

Thanks Damien.  My regular painting style with inks and blending is more involved than I have space to detail here.  Perhaps in the future I might put something up on my blog.
