Thanks for the comments.

I thought about the mouths alot. I wanted to avoid putting teeth in the mouths since I felt it doesn't sit well with the plastic amorphous nature of the creature. Then I begun thinking that they wouldn't have much knowlege of a human style mouth to have evolved an imitation of one so I went for the sucker maw.

Yeah was thinking about making a much larger shoggoth as I sculpted this but like you say it would be pretty expensive to produce and just sculpting the 160+ eyes on this one blasted my sanity a little ;) I was thinking of this model as a "Shoggoth Slave" a smaller creature than the one from ATMOM. Something that hasn't gained the independence of it's larger kind and could be controlled by Deep Ones or Cultists etc.

I could package it with the tentacles from the Yog Sothoth kit but then those tentacles are available separately anyway. Also people may want the non-tentacle version or want to use their on tentacles on the model. Still working this out :) It'll be around the same price as the Yog Sothoth kit probably a little less but that would be with the metal tentacles.

Bloody marvellous. :o

Please release it ASAP so I can get one, paint it red and use it as a Soviet mutant monster roaming the prospects of Pripyat.

Not mine, unfortunately, but if I pull it off adequately, I think I might be forgiven.  :D

Fantastic! I'll be needing one of those asap!!! LPL is just around the corner and a 'Mountains Of Madness' entry can't be far away with this sort of thing slurping around! Great realization of the theme material.  :P

These are great models. I like the bubble look because I always imagined shoggoths moving in a rolling/flowing way, like a bean bag rolling, or a very soft blob of dough flowing downhill.

My two (minor) complaints are that I'd have liked the orificies to be more mouth-like. Also, I think it should be bigger. I know that mini is big, yet a shoggoth as described by H.P.L. is massive... Although I understand the problems with very big minis, that have a high production cost that induces a high price tag, which puts sales at risk. :?

:) Heh, you've got me thinking now. A large shoggoth would be expensive, but not prohibitively so, I'd guesstimate. I'd bet I could probably make a resin one that would ring in at about the 30.00 USD range. About the same as a resin vehicle. Shoggies are level boss type monsters anyway IMO, so one wouldn't need that many on the table at once).

Bigger problem IMO is making something that big maneuverable enough on the table. Vehicles are a static shape, so it's okay if they're restricted to main roads and such, but shoggies' amorphousness means they should be physically able to follow a player pretty much anywhere, despite their bulk. I can think of at least four ways to do that off the top of my head, but they'd all drive the cost up, and one of those would necessitate prepaints.

History viewed from the inside is always a dark, digestive mess, far different from the easily recognizable cow viewed from afar by historians.

Great stuff. It looks much better than any of the other versions I've seen.
A Shoggoth + tentacles bundle would be great.

Funny, I was just wondering why I hadn't seen anything new from Tengu.

I'll buy that for a dollar! (or whatever it costs!) lol
