I'll probably get a little grief putting these in VSF ( rather than Steam Punk) but here goes...

I bought the Dystopian Wars rules last week aswell as a Britannia and Prussian starter set.
I've painted 1 ship from each to get my head around the colour schemes ( didn't want to paint all of one faction and decide i didn't like the colours!!!!) Pretty much gone for schemes similar to the book with the Brits using "Razzle Dazzle" Camo ( my attempt any way) and the Prussians with a nice dark "down to business" scheme.
I've also decided I need new glasses......
BRITS:

Prussians:

Comparison Shot:

Personally I prefer the sleek lines of the Prussians.

Great Job!!!  Really nice figures.

Really nice figures.
Really? I don't like them at all. The figures, that is, not the paintwork, which is pretty darn nifty. The planking really stands out.

I think both paint schemes are superb!

Very nicely done too.

The minis are excellent but always wish they would do these things a bit larger.  Perhaps that is why I still have a faint hope that Leviathans will actually make it to market.

Looking forward to see more.

Beautiful paint jobs.  Very nice contrast between the 2 styles.  & great job on the dazzle pattern.  I've tried doing that myself & I can't keep my lines straight.

Very nice, IMO one of your best works! I really like the dark mood!
Bought the rules too and skimmed through the book, at 1st glance they look a bit too complicated to me. by I really love the ships!
cheers and keep on gaming, Agis - http://www.adpublishing.de

Beautiful work.

My local hobby store just brought these in and I am considering them carefully. I kind of like the American steamers

I like most of the figures and those are nice paintjobs. Why does the Prussian ship have a Dutch flag though?
So many projects..... so little time.......

My monitor also gave the black bar a bit of a blue hue.

Now, the question becomes 'why is there no eagle, or even an iron cross...

Oh, yes, new glasses...

 lol

Skilled brushwork, though I must admit that I detest the camo-idea. It's really hard to pull of on smaller scale models I think.  lol

But I guess this dieselpunk is more World War I inspired an camouflage is fitting in that theme.

Prussian model almost looks like a WWI or WWII battleship but it even has connotations of a star destroyer! :D

Just in case I was being subtle to the point of incomprehensibility, which is only one of my many tools of  incomprehensibility, THAT'S what I meant.  lol

Note, while dazzle is a somewhat later concept, and one that only came into vogue versus sub attack, I rather fancy it's variety, and this particular example. Huge YMMV, of course, and understand Dr. The Viking's take entirely.

I love the minis for this game, and your pantjobs are great.  I really want to do some of the zeppelin carriers, but am hesitant to start collecting new game minis.
This is my boomstick!

Thank you all for the comments.
I think Dystopia is a bit of "love or hate" with regards to the minis.
They are a weird mix of victoriana, diesel punk, ww1/ww2 and gothic!
The Prussian ships ( yes the top bar of the flag is black.....blame my crappy camera) are WAY too modern looking with the tesla coils along the sides and back only really setting it apart from a weird ww2/star-destroyer hybrid.
The_Beast: I knew exactly where you were coming from.......i tend to blur the borders between genres more than some ( hence why I don't tend to get involved with Vsf/Steampunk/Gothic debates), I can't help it, it's the way I'm built  lol
Although the game is set in the Victorian era the authors have just gone nuts with the "what if" side of things making a very bizarre and quirky game.

The actual game aside, this is the first time I've had anything from Spartan Games and have got to say that the ships are extremely well made. The resin casting is amazing and a few other manufacturers could take some tips from the quality of their work. Small details like hatches and ladders are crisp and easily seen and the minute rivets are awesome.
They are a real pleasure to paint and I'm looking forward to receiving my Prussian Zep Carrier.

PM
