A Few Recently Painted
« on: February 14, 2011, 01:32:25 PM »
Heres a few figures I painted recently, that I had a chance to photo this weekend.

One of my son's agents appropriately named "Gunner"

A Priest...The camera caught a bit of a glare in his coat..

A couple more Cultists....Narg from Hasslefree is a good special character fit for a Cultist team.  A nice figure to add some special skills too.  The gunman obviously is from the Pulp Figures range.

A Cult Leader from Artizan...  This miniature fits in quite well with the other Pulp Figures Cultists.  The Head and chest adornments seem to set him above the others.  I might go back and put some symbols on his head and chest pieces, I can't decide.

Finally a Nightgaunt...  I love this model.  I decided to paint it black after reading an article on painting black miniatures.  It doesn't show well in the photo but the figure is has a dark blue/green highlight on the upper left aspect of it's figure to raise the detail of the figure.  I considered painting the horns and talons ivory but decided to go with description from the COC game.

"Black things with smooth, oily whale-like surfaces, unpleasant horns and worst of all they never spoke or made a sound because they had no faces.  All they ever did was lash needlessly and disquietly; that was the way of the Nightgaunts."
"Despite my ghoulish reputation, I really have the heart of a small  boy....I keep it in a jar on my desk."

I love the way the Nightgaunt turned out.  Nice work.

That priest looks good. What range is it from?
Now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb...

Thanks
It's from Artizan too from their Thrilling Tales range.

Cheers.  I thought I recognized it but I'm too lazy on a Monday morning to go searching for it...  ;)

Really like the clean style....and Although I'm not a big fan of 'gloss'...have to say it works here.

Great figures.  What game are you using them with?

I use 2 clear coats on miniatures after they're painted, a gloss and a flat coat.

I spray a gloss coat on my miniatures after painting to add a protective coat and it seems to increase the vividness of the model...

Then I use a Testors brand clear flat enamel spray to  remove the sheen.

It attributes to a "cartoonly look" but I find that look appealing to me.

I must say, Testors dull coat spray is by far the best sealant I've ever used.  It goes on perfectly clear, tones the paint and protects it too.

This was a process I came upon by accident, after experimenting with various flat and gloss sealants.  It creates a different look independant of either being used alone.  I'm sure we all have grown accustom to a different look and feel for our models.

Great figures.  What game are you using them with?
Thanks.  I'm using them for Strange Aeons...I have a couple games and pics posted in the Strange Aeons Child forum.

I have never seen the Hasslesfree Torturer before. I like it. Good work. You have miiatures for different histories and sceneries. I really like your Congo battle.
