Mantic Zombies or Ghouls?
« on: February 15, 2011, 01:28:36 PM »
I need to get a good bunch of zombies (for "modern day" games) but as price is an issue I was aiming at Mantis plastics.
I wonder if some of you zombie hunter veterans could share an opinion on if I should go for Mantis Zombies, Ghouls (or a mix of the two), for "modern days" games (or if you know of any other low budget solution).

I already have a few of GW's zombies, and I intended to try Mantis as their poses seem a lot more dynamic.
Well, they don't seem to have that many different poses (Mantic ones I mean) but I wouldn't mind to clip and twist a few arms or add a bit of green stuff here and there to convert them...

So... zombies, ghouls, both or try another company?

Thanks for reading!
Cheers
A.

You might consider getting some of the plastic Celts from Warlord Games.  They are designed with the same connection points as Mantics ghouls and zombies.  They are also in the same scale.

The Celts will provide some zombies that don't have shredded clothes.  The pants are easy enough to turn into sweat pants or jogging pants.  Many of the heads will even make good zombies.

Currently Warlord is offering free worldwide shipping till the end of February and they sell Mantic's zombies and ghouls.

You can buy the Celts in a box of 30 or in sprues of 10.  If you buy the sprues, get sprue "B".  Sprue "A" has the same bodies, but no heads and it has the command parts which you shouldn't need.

Thanks consectari!
I'm checking those right now.
Free shipping always sounds interesting, and being able to buy single sprue's is a plus too.

Why not post the good pic?

Excellent work on those and they work very well in a modern setting as well.

You can also try the Wargames Factory zombies. A lot of people dislike them and their detail is soft but for bulk they are quite nice. They have a good modern civilian look about them and on the table they look quite allright.

hardly... the Mantic ranges are bigger...

that aside, the current situation at WF means some folks have been waiting for orders... I'd check into that before you ordered anything, things may have improved, but you don't want to screwed over... well anymore than having them anyway  ;)
