Split a box of the Zouaves with Chairface that Sterling Moose had picked up at Cold Wars for us.
Will be used as the start of my Confederate troops (my timeline has the Rebs successfully seceding - a la Turtledove).  Great idea from Moose was to pick up some Hinterland troops as a "Daughters of the Confederacy" Zouave unit as well.  So three Zouave units in the works now!
Also picked up the Reaper "Smedley" figure for an officer and a couple of 1/72 FT-17 which will convert into some one man scout vehicles

It is going to be an awesome army.

Bullshot, I'm liking what you've done. I did something similar with the Perry Napoleonic rifflement a little ways back and they always look great on the table.

@ Plynkes - well spotted! You are correct (I checked correct name for the Tirailleurs Algeriens, also spelt with an 's'). All references to these troops have now bee suitably edited

@ Chairface - your conversions were what inspired me to do these :)

I was rather surprised to find 2 freebies in Miniature Wargames this month. Surprised because I do not recall it being mentioned in the release blurb and there is no reference to it in the magazine!
Anyway, I don't need them, if anybody in the UK wants them just let me know. No charge.

regards
John

What are they?

There is an advancing zouave which can be built as infantryman/standard bearer/drummer and an officer in frock coat.

@ Chairface - A tempting challenge  ;D .I think I've just seen the perfect metal donor figures to provide torsos and upper legs, that would fit in perfectly with my zouaves. I just need to find suitable mounts ;)

Are you going to keep the existing Kroot guns held in 2 hands, or do you have plans for something else for your cavalry?

Since you only get one command sprue per zouave box you will probably need more command sprues anyway.

You can buy the command sprues separately from the Perry site if you want. They cost a Pound each, which I imagine is quite a bit less than Miniature Wargames (just in case anybody was going to buy it solely for the figures).  :)

First of all I'm using Gashants from RAFM's Space 1889 as mounts. I had a few with European tack, but I will be using Martian tack for most. More room for the rider. I have a hodge podge of riders left over from Perry Napoleonic sets and will be using them. I will use the Kroot rifle in one hand, or give them a hand to hand weapon with a rifle swung over their back.
