You're obviously stark raving mad but in a good kind of way and I applaud you for it.

Well, I think I wasn't too far off.
I did mention "a carrier", and it sure looks like one to me.

Nice work Rudi, I hope you bring it along next friday...

Thx, Johan, and thanks to all other friends and kind souls for their comments, (and, indeed) you were getting close with your guesswork last week!

Only thing I can do now against this behemoth is building some very nasty sampans with torpedo-mines stuck on them. I'm searching for something to represent the outboard engine. The boats I already have. They were sold in a Macro shop not far away for a few euro's for 25 of them in 4 different sizes. (Rudy knows what to expect because he's got them as well)
At last a worthy task for my suicide VC.

Oh dear, here comes trouble...  lol

Awesome stuff. Boats are cool.

Rudi joins the select groups of LAFers (one other member; AKULA) who have built their own 28mm scale aircraft carrier. You two can be carrier buddies!

Thank you (and Akula for offering his carrier in support).  BTW, we have been (LAF & VBCW) buddies for a long time... :D

It's just the start... I wonder how long before it's necessary to have a treaty limiting the size of these vessels?  ;)

Looks great, Rudi!  Very impressive!

What scale is that CH-47 on the deck?  Who makes it?

Actually it is a plastic & diecast ready made model:

Exactly right in scale and a steral at less than $ 16!

I will need to look out for one of them. Only just recently started Nam but in 20mm. How would the orginal fit with 20mm?

20 mm? Better still, I guess.  With 28mm, the deck will take 4 choppers, including a Chinook, so this will be at least 5-6 in 20mm.  The original superstructure will have to be replaced anyway since this is clearly too small and too modern.  With a overall length of 80cm, the USS Lisa is a "wargames model" (about 1/3th scale length of a "real" LPH) intended to be deployed on an average wargames table of around 2.5 - 3 m.
Hope this helps.

About the same time someone builds one that's large enough for us to sign the treaty on...

Thx.  They look satisfactory indeed as far as I'm concerned.  It gives the ship also a greater carrying capacity than with 3D models, although (with our rules) 4 helicopters should do for a game.
