[WW2] French Village (work in progress)
« on: October 07, 2007, 04:17:31 PM »
I decided to build a french village for my WW2 games. I wanted to be able to set up streets like these ones

I looked first at products from existing manufacturers but I didn't find anything really interesting except the Carentan range from Grand Manner (but far too expensive as I want 6-8 buildings.

Finally, I began to build them from scratch in foam card. After  3 weeks of work , I assembled 10 buildings ( houses, barn, shops, garage).

I textured them yesterday with the Walktapus Magic Mixture  ( water and ceramic tile glue ) and they look great.

Next step now, the painting!

I like the look of these a lot.

I'd like to make not only a WWII French village but also some Victorian British stuff, which is essentially similar in shape, although not in detailing.

What have you done for texturing the roofs and walls? It's fear of putting tiles and brickwork on 10-20 houses that keeps me from starting?

For the roof, I finally used  Wills products, textured plastic cards that I bought from Antenocity's workshop.

For the walls, there's no stone or brick walls yet only rendering ones that are textured with a mix of water and ceramic tile glue.

Walktapus used it for his bricks buildings and it's very nice :

Very nice! Are the roofs tile in real life? And do all the barns have windows on the second storey?
