Remington's Africa (Even More Askari 14-7-11)... page 3
« on: April 03, 2011, 03:25:14 PM »
Well, as I have been moaning about varnish problems, I thought I might as well show you what I wanted to varnish in the first place... Thankfully the varnishing worked. After losing some Saxons to it, I welcomed the change and painted some Schutztruppe for our local campaign in the mysterious (and completely fictional) Gumbaland somewhere in East Africa (By now I've found out that there is an actual tribe calling themselves Gumba in the Kenyan region).

The miniatures are Copplestone except for the leader, which is Foundry and painted as a German para-military adventurer and is slightly inspired by the Germans in Shout at the Devil.

Cracking stuff!!  :-* Lovely clean and crisp paint jobs, you've done a great job on the bases too. Hope you'll post up some pics of the natives they'll be facing, if and when you,ve painted some.

Thank you, fellas. :) By the way, for the uniform colours I decided to try to stay close to the colours depicted on this poster:

So I could go a bit lighter as well here and there. Which is fine, cause I want a mishmash of yellowish khaki tones. I know the battle is WW1 but it should do fine for the 1890-1900s.

Excellent work, sir!  :-* You have a definite talent for bringing out facial expressions.

I've gotta say I do like the colour khaki you've chosen. Very in keeping with the poster artwork and a nice change from the standard WWI khaki.

They are fantastic.  Nice job!  I hope you post more photos of your minis, and of the game once it gets started.  I agree with everyone else too: the whites are incredible.
