I'm not sure 82nd Airborne Paratroopers had a specific helmet marking while it existed for the 101st Airborne Paratroopers.

For the 101st Airborne Paratroopers, there's a symbol (circle, diamond, spade, etc.) and a tick (at 3 o'clock, 6,9,12) indicating the battalion (1st,2nd,3rd,HQ).

I have the whole description at home.

I dont think that the 82nd had specific markings like the 101st however Company B has some nice decals for most units. Wish these were around when I had painted my 101st and Big Red 1 Yanks

these are on a UK site but should be available direct form company B

For the 82nd:

The HQ of the 508th had two red H (HH)
The 3/508th hat a winged foot painted in white
One battalion of the 507th had a white diabolo as helmet marking (looks like a stylized bow tie).
That's all I can add, no pics, sorry   :(

Maybe he's a pirate?

Or it could be some kind of kill marking or specialist badge?
