I was thinking about creating a story line told from an orcs/goblins perspective about the conquest of the Shire... Hence the name for the entry. And I love what GW has made of those hobbits. Most of the Middle-Earth range is really of the highest quality, I think.

Wow - this looks like it will be a very close thing!

Nice brushwork with those hobbitses and I love the scenery too Doomhippie - I look forward to reading more about your orcish invasion of the shire!

Best of luck!  :D

Thanks Thantsants. I'm not sure if I will ever really come up with those scenarios but I've been playing around with that idea for some time.
Btw, where are your miniatures from? I haven't seen any of them around. Lots of details to see and it really took me some time to understand them (and your painting, which makes a lot more sense to me now). Are they Confrontation? From the weirdness aspect I'd say so but they seem a liitle too compact for that.

Cheers Doomhippie - the detail took some understanding for me too and I was painting them!  ;D

They are KingofDaveness' excellent Bederken Dwergs - old skool style chaos dwarf types.

As for my painting I thought I'd go with some nasty and weird clashing colour schemes to suit the nature of the minis - bit of a challenge as I normally strive for a more naturalistic style - if you can call bright green orcs and goblins naturalistic!  ;)

Great looking Dwergs Thantsants, and nasty looking too! It took me a while to see what was on the banner but that's a dirty looking fly you painted there, good work!

The hobbits are very nicely done too, but it seems like the picture was taken with a flash which spoils the scene a bit. Lovely scenery though!

I just don't have the skill or the equiptment for anything better...  :'(

Thantsants, that banner is really sick-looking.  ;)
And I really enjoy your more... naturalistic looking goblins.

I disagree, I think your other entries seemed to be a bit better lit, maybe it was a daylight/night thing, but you certainly have the skill 8)

Edit: I'm sorry, I just looked at your entry and I think I was making a big deal out of nothing, it looks great but I just prefer the Dwergs 8)

Ooh, painted dwergs! Nice, haven't seen too many of them painted up. Good job, sickly and nasty looking. I'm guessing they're Nurgle devotees?

Also like the hobbits, and agree with Pil that you usually take much better pics DH!

Cheers chaps!

Sick and nasty was definitely the effect I was after - you've no idea how much it pained me to paint orange and purple next too each other!  ;D

The dead fly banner idea hit me when I was trying to work out how to do a Lord of the Flies style hog's head with accompanying fly swarm - I thought one fat dead bluebottle might be more horrible than lots of little black dots!

The other trophies of war will be hung alongside the skeleton on the other banner pole in the future as the Dwergs vanquish new foes!   >:D

Hadn't really thought of them as being Nurgle followers Phreedh - just crazy chaos types a la Old Skool!
