Samurai Castle and Houses
« on: May 26, 2011, 12:27:13 PM »
As another sideproject to my SYW-armies I builded a few samurai-buildings.
I wanted a ragged look an feel for them, so no clean oshiro-models-look. I was inspired by "seven samurai" and KungFu-Panda, so please no button-counting (I know the buildings are not historically correct)... :D

The houses are scratchbuild of styropor, balsawood, cardboard, and teddyfur for the roofs...

Don't decided yet, what to use them for.
45. Adventure or even a siege (with LoTR-Rules). So I have to paint a lot of miniatures... o_o

The houses so far...

and the castle...

the main tower...

And the tower can be opened to play inside, a shame the houses are not... :(

there will be even a cellar.

The Castle measures 50cmx50cm and is 45cm high.

DV... :)

Wonderful stuff ... like the sushi mat castle walls :)
I don't know about not being accurate ... apart from the 'castle' not having the obligatory white 'stone' and plaster wall they looked fine :)

Very jealous ... once I have done my evil lair this might have to be the next building project :)

I wouldn't dream of button counting  :D

It certainly looks the part and fun to play on  :)

It'll be nice to see it on the table with the figures when you have them done  :)

I like them too. They have a charm and look exactly like what they are meant to.

Beautiful.  The castle is especially good.  Very evocative of the 7 Samurai.
This is my boomstick!

These look really awesome! But how many poor teddies had to die for your thatching, you monster?!

Actually, the thatching reminds me of old gassho-zukuri style rustic Japanese buildings, like in Shirakawa village. Maybe you should do a couple of those?

Beautiful work, all of it  :o

My wife now hates you because you've just inspired me to dig out the "Bushi no Yume" rules I purchased ages ago but haven't tried out yet. I feel a figure-buying spree coming on  :D

...and what fresh new hell is this?

Beautiful scratch work.

Thanks for sharing.
I know you're too old to play with toy soldiers. So give them to me... NOW!
