Good stuff as always!! :o

How do you paint your minis? Are you a layer-er? Working from dark to light? Do you shade down from a basic colour? Do you use army painter? Go on tell us the secrets of success!!

Thanks everybody  :)

Andy, I'm not sure I can give too much help to a chap who sculpts and paints 28mm scale pencils and clipboards! But for what it's worth, I posted a step by step build and paint of a Perry plastico, over on Steve Dean's forum...

http://www.sdean-forum.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=25706

if you would indulge me for a moment, the black and white horse, although beautifully painted, looks a bit like a cow  :? (don't hit me  :) )

You're right, damn you, Bibbly - it does. But it's based on a horse standing in the field just down the road from me, so I'm content with it, even though it looks a bit wrong  :D

I've seen similar ones myself, I think the colours might be a bit too contrasting for the scale given though (I'm still incredibly jealous because I'm crap at painting horses  lol ), still beautifully done though  :-*

Every time I see yours I want to buy some  ::)  :)

cheers

Stunning as always :-* I really like the different poses (after looking at the originals) but if you would indulge me for a moment, the black and white horse, although beautifully painted, looks a bit like a cow  :? (don't hit me  :) )

cheers

This reminded me of a locally famous hippologist from around the last turn of the century. He was a bit of a posh idiot and claimed with great authority that the pinto was related to the common cow.

Excellent work Captain  :-*

Ironically I painted a cow that looked just like a horse, small world eh! lol

Heh heh...

I think mine is more of a spotted Apaloosa...  ;)
People think of the Apaloosa as an 'American breed', even though the Spanish didn't bring horses to the Americas until AD 1500... Genetic mutations leading to spotted and patched equine markings go back thousands of years...
