It will be you nutter.....

Need some thoughts on this idea........

I am planning once all the vegetation is in situ to airbrush at a downward angle some gloss varnish to give the entire setting a damp feel.

Thoughts?

valejo  Gel Denso might do the trick. glue a hair of glassfiber or a thin strip of clear plastic where you want the drops and apply some gel.
I've used it for the sludge on my toxic zombies. A bit on the crude side in my case, but I reckon someone with your skills can get away with better results :

Hmmmmmmmmm.......
Sounds like a superb idea, but would try it on something else first!
You could try running some small bits of fishing line for it to cling to, or maybe use some scenic water effects for larger drips.
Just a thought.

Defo test first mate, too much time and effort has been invested in this so far to try something and ruin it. and the drop thing thanks for the suggestion I had already considered it....great minds maybe??  alas mine aint great :)

I was going to use "Delux Materials - Making Waves" for drops mate works a treat have been testing it for weeks :)

right have done a load more, but still more detailing to do

but my original mental image is almost realised

I love the base and the figures are superb but....is the base too big? Are the figures a little lost?

I've been considering doing something similiar for a sci-fi city board I've got planned, to give that Bladerunner look. So I'll be looking forwards to see how it goes.

That's an amazing looking squad!

If your still looking for some water effects, then the link below shows some great results that a guy got using a Woodland Scenics product. He even has a tutorial.

Best of luck with the base!

I find the colour of the mud somewhat familiar?
In fact if i look out of my window i see palm trees, green bushes, plants and red mud...

Its all coming togther very nicely indeed matey....

I love the base and the figures are superb but....is the base too big? Are the figures a little lost?

Have to agree there, I was expecting a tighter basing, maybe a tight column through the jungle? Looks great and all just not as coverd or dense as I expected, but again not finished appreciate that mate.

Cheers

Maybe but it's too late for me to worry about that now matey as I finished it yesterday :)

Not going to risk it.....this is me chickening out, too much hard work has gone into it to even contemplate.

Damn fine work there. Saved a few pics for reference.  :D

Thanks matey

thanks mate I will bring it over to you on Thursday if you are about so you can have a look first hand as it looks totally different to the pictures, lighting makes everything look a little weird.

I have to balance it out though mate, after all this is a 40k squad entry for golden demon not a diaorma focus needs to be on the 6 guys didn't want to draw the focus the pretty base.  Think next year it will just have to be guys on bases stuck to a display plinth as they seem to do just as well and would be a darn sight cheaper as has turned into a bit of a cash vacuum

just a quick photo will take proper photos tonight as everything is now done

I was originally going to put a crispy tau on there but after last years debarcle i decided to leave the horror of war out of any GD entry (don't want to offend the mummy state)

Epic!

At long last its finished...

Does this now constitude your final entry for this year...

Perhaps we should have a separate thread just for your GD entries??

It would be fun to see them all togther and then let people vote for thier fave... be interesting to see if the collective eyes and judgements of this esteemed organ share a common view with those that judge GD's...

Thanks a lot mate, fair amount of time went into it, am a little dissapointed in the time it took but then I had a busy couple of months recently with other non-painting related activities (otherwise known to me as unavoidable burdens).

Thanks mate.  And no it isn't the last I have enough time to squeeze out another (perhaps two) Forgeworld Chaos Sorcerer (and if time Space Hulk Terminator Libby but unlikely with the freehand I need to do on both)

Personally I don't want to do any "what will win this year" threads mate it serves n real purpose, I would rather remain grounded, not raising my expectations with what I will win and if I do win it will make an enjoyable day out with some of my close friends even more enjoyable, if I don't I try harder next year.

By the way I will be at the club on Wednesday if you want to pop by quickly before or after the cinema OR I will be going to Rich's place on Sunday evening with it if you want me to drop round yours let you have a goosey with the naked eye as it looks a lot different in the photos.
