... are to be honest, rather disappointing:

Too static for my taste & uninspiring sculpting.

Yes & they are by FOUNDRY

They credit some of the sculpting to Martin Buck. He used to be a Foundry trainee, but I do not think he has been with them for some time (he works with Mark Sims now). I could be wrong, but it appears that the folks at Foundry might be trying passing off old training projects as "new" releases.

I agree, they are a bit weak looking.

Here are the GW versions from a few years back:

There are other Robin Hood figures on the market. I know Black Hat has the old Gladiator range, sculpted by Martin Baker from way back when. They're not brilliant sculpts, but at least they're somewhat charming and cheap.

Aaron's theory of Martin Buck's training sculpts is so plausible that I must believe it.

I think Urban Mammoth or some one possibly Figure Trader sell some nice 40mm figures which I have been tempted by a few times and at the same price :D

Ah yes, the price. I forgot to mention they are apparently 3 Pounds each! I remeber in the good old days when I used to pay about 1 Pound per Foundry figure :(

So, approximately $6 and 4-5 Euros, not including the usual ridiculous "bump up the price for overseas sales" ploy?

Even if they were the canine's testes, I would be put off by the price.

I only brought the subject up to get one of Pete's "Deranged Kirk" pics

Dear sweet pewter baby Jesus!

Edit: You can buy every last one of the Robin Hood minis in Black Hat's range for the price of half that set.

As said before...

Nice figures, but damn uninspiring and terribly priced.

Me too I have been looking at those 40mm Figure Trader ones for a while and was considering diving in (but opted for the C18th smugglers instead. They are very nice figures in comparrison. :)

Great minds think alike :0) I went with Highwaymen. On this matter what did you use for cobblestones in your Victorian town? was it the Lemax sheets? or something else? I want a good few roads for my village

Its wallpaper from good old Homebase. If you look at the textured stuff, or woodchip varieties you will find ones with an irregular pattern, that when painted resembles irregular cobblestones. Its cheap and looks reasonably good when painted up.
The colour scheme on the one I used in the photo shoot was too orange/brown. I am in the process of redoing it with a more grey/brown finish. :)

And its very cheap to do. A roll of woodchip costs about £2.50 - £3.00. And you will have enough off one roll to cover a very large table. :)

I wouldn't normally comment on figures I didn't like because I prefer to be positive most of the time; but...
Those really are overpriced bits of shit. Foundry's really lost the plot.  :o
