New Future Wars from Foundry
« on: June 30, 2011, 11:59:23 AM »
Foundry posted some new Future wars on their site: http://wargamesfoundry.com/fantasy_ranges/single_packs/futuristic/street_violence/street_violence_thugs_and_misfits_bssv001/?sector_id=

Some nice models in there.  A lot seem to be slight alterations of existing sculpts, but others are quite unique.  I really like Bellatrix and Gat (though I'm not sure what game it would fit into.)

A little sketchy that they only offer them as a set of 18, especially since there seem to be different themes to some of the figures, and they wouldnt necessarily fit together, but I may get this at some point, so I thought I'd bring attention to it for anyone who may not be on Foundry's mailing list.

Two, maybe three I like. That's a shame – modern gunmen are useful... just not with 15–16 unnecessary ones for £30!

If anyone is going to get these, and doesn't want Luise or Ander, let me know!

I'm pretty impressed by most of these. Not brilliant, but pretty good sculpts and decent subject matter.

Bellatrix and Gat are a bit bizarre, but the rest are very useful figures, although Drake appears to be combing his hair with a meat cleaver  lol

18 figures for 30 quid is very reasonable indeed these days. Now I need to bypass the silly postal charge, so hopefully Caliver Books will be stocking them  :D

Not good, esp. by Foundry standards.

I would buy Gamba, Rissien and Ander.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.

These look like retreads of earlier models in the S V line.

Mind you, their latest range of Zulus are retreads of Copplestone's Darkest Africa sculpts, and they're jolly nice, so nothing to say you can't make a decent figure with a bit of Frankenstein style stitching and building...  ;)

I was very happy to see more support for the Street Violence line, as I thought it had been forgotten.   Part of me wants to buy this right away to show them that there is a demand for such figures.   Of the set, the only ones I really don't like are Keela and Isis.

What are the complaints (for those that said these were low quality) about this set?

Bellatrix and Gat seem a little...odd, but I like the rest of them.

Not good, esp. by Foundry standards.

Foundry have very poor standards these days, so they fit well with current releases. Not for me. :(

In the Street Violence range there were always several miniatures based on the same basic sculpt. So it's nothing like: "Now they're recycling old sculpts" It's just like it always was.

I have nothing against this policy since all Foundry minis i got from the SV range are outstanding if you got your hands on them and see them in flesh.

Nice to see them continuing this range,  they already have some cultist and other stuff new in the SV range for some time (don't know if this is already known):

Most of these look like extensions of existing SV packs.  Bellatrix would fit well in any of the dominatrix themed packs or with "The Family".  Couple of new swat, new yakuza, new russian mafia, new rioters.  I'm especially interested in the 2 female skin heads.  I doubt there are any of them I couldn't fit into one faction or another.

If you don't buy direct from Foundry, they are fairly reasonable.  Quality doesn't match Hasslefree, Heresy, or Mad Puppet but then neither does the price.

Foundry have a middle of the road line of near future minis.  Not too good, not too bad.  Not too expensive, not too cheap.

If you do I'll take those two off you :)
