Transparent figures?
« on: November 05, 2011, 07:22:11 PM »
I'm looking for some figures, but with two fairly odd requirements to match some figures in an existing but now discontinued line.

The first is that they need to be transparent, to match existing figures. Preferably with a colour tint, but I supose I can always do an ink wash over a plain clear figure.

The second is that the figure needs to be somewhat flowing. The original line were sort of predatory energy beings.

Here are some samples of existing figures:

Some had humanoid faces, where others had more of a "mask", some had wings but that was not universal, the smaller ones were more humanoid and close to 30mm but the large ones were often 50-60mm or so. The one thing they all tended to have in common was a robe-like a flowing shape below the waist rather than legs. Many had armour, but that's something you can add with greenstuff.

I'm no good with figure-sized resin castings, so that's not really an option. Just looking for a few suggestions that might work. The one figure I've found so far that's a reasonable replacement is a blue D&D mini whose name escpaes me at the moment. He's a bit small, but can be made to work at least. Would anyone have any other ideas?

thanks!

These pictures don't come up.

The only transpaent figures that i know of are Ainsty's not-Predators and GW's Invisible Frodo.

I got a set of Litko clear acrylic figures last year.

Though 2D they may be able to make something up for you.

Sounds like Dreamblade figures. Should be relatively cheap and plentiful on eBay.  ;)

IIRC Horrorclix has some transparent figs (although mostly tinted)

There are a handful (3-4 figures) between Dreamblade and Horrorclix that can work (I looked those up a while ago and it can be tougher to get some of those out of print figures, but it's still a good suggestion). Litko only seems to make the 2D gaming accessories - figures seem out of their league, sadly.

Some simple things like this, this, or this would be great (something like that last one would be particularly good), only transparent/translucent.

If not, it's not the end of the world.

Thanks folks!

You might also look at Heroclix proper - they have a fair number of transparent hero figures, especially since the GReen Lantern stuff came out.

Didnt Strange Aeons make a clear-ish green tinted ghost?

I can not see it on thier website but I thought they did, although it may have been one of the special offer minis you could get when you bought the game.

Sorry I cannot be more helpful.
