Anatoli's Empire of the Dead painting thread
« on: July 14, 2011, 02:52:06 PM »
I will post all Empire of the Dead related painted miniatures in this thread as things get done.

Painted these up as a break from my FoW campaign writing. The idea was to have them look as they appear in the 2009 Sherlock Holmes movie. They will be used for West Winds upcoming ruleset "Empie of the Dead" and I'm currently waiting for the Jack The Ripper demo scenario to arrive.

More pictures of both on my blog:

It's a change to see Holmes in something other than a deerstalker!

The West Wind Gothic Horror range "Jack the Ripper" which I painted up for the upcoming Empire of the Dead scenario where he will be pitted against Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson.

Some law enforcement backup for Holmes and Watson in their chase of Jack the Ripper.

I also came up with a decent explanation about the bases. As it is an alternate reality, nothing says Jack could not have changed or moved his hunting ground to Hyde Park, which is close enough to Whitechapel.

Well last 2 Bobbies, painted up as proposed on Steve Dean Painting forum, in a much darker color. I also painted one out of 4 victim markers while I was at it.

As always VERY NICELY DONE! Doc Watson is my favorite in the group...mostly.
At first I was rather surprised you didn't go for an urban base effect, but the more I look at the minis the better I like the more countrified style.

Thanks guys!   :)

All Jack the Ripper victims painted up, those being the last miniatures I had to paint for the Empire of the Dead demo scenario. I hope to play it soon and of course a review of the game mechanics and my impressions of the whole thing will be up here on the blog at the same time. West Wind have not finished the demo scenario yet so I can't tell exactly when, but I think fairly soon, possibly sometime next month at the latest.

About the bases, yeah I think countryside bases will be of most use for the EotD game. I can imagine it bringing the hero characters to all kinds of settings outside of London  :)

Hey Anatoli,

Any word on the demo scenario yet? Unless people tell me it sucks after it comes out, this game will be on my to buy list.

Having been 'burnt' (well, I was warned), I'm twice shy, so I'd like those opinions as well.

I really like the group painted; I've seen Holmes without the mal apropos deerstalker on other figs, but this is a nice reference to the movie. However, I agree the victims are smashing, if a bit 'censored'. The lad 'From Hell' could leave quite a mess.

Sorry didn't see the new posts in here. Yes I contacted West Wind last week to once again check up on the progress, the demo rules are still not done. The release date for the rulebook is planned for october/november. As soon as I have something useful to share or get some review material you guys can count on me posting info here on LAF as well as on my blog  :)
