Aeronef - Finished with plenty of new pics
« on: July 27, 2011, 07:42:01 AM »
Hello Folks,

Here are some pics of my WIP second attempt at an aeronef and some 28mm figs for scale (my first nef was to small - but good for 15mm!)

This is based around two Revell kits - Viking Ship and 1/48 Albertross. There are also bits an pieces from here and there. There's a big sail that comes with the Viking Ship but I chose not to use it here although I can see it appearing on another nef in the near future.

I have two harpoon guns that will be mounted on the bridge and, in case you're wondering, the thing on the fordeck is a rocket launcher armed with a couple of Congreve Rockets.

Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.

I really like the look of that  :-* :-*

And somehow the plane wings on the front really set it off  8)

Using the viking ship is rather inspirational, was there any problem removing the plank detail or is it still there as I can't quite make it out on the photos?

cheers

I left the plank detail but I added a strip of plasticard along where the holes fo rthe ores were. the strip gives it a nice "mixed media" look. I also added a long wedge of plasticard on the bottom running the length of the hull to widen the whole model.

Reminds me of the pirate ship from Stardust.  Nice job.

I have a couple of the longboats on the shelf at the store to encourage sales of Vikings, but as that's not working, I may have to retrieve same and use your work as inspiration. Actually, had been thinking in that direction, though not with such 'modernity'.

So, can't quite claim 'two great minds' and such, but I will steal remorselessly.  lol

REALLY looking forward to seeing steps to completion, and don't forget the aeronef sticky when you're finished!

Ah very nice indeed!

It looks like my British have a new opponent ;)

It will be interesting to see this ship go head to head with my HMES Hermes.

Gotta get another game of gaslight going soon

Cheers

Crikey, sir. I'm looking forward to today. Up diddly up, down diddly
down, whoops, poop, twiddly dee - decent scrap with the fiendish Red
Baron - bit of a jolly old crash landing behind enemy lines - capture,
torture, escape, and then back home in time for tea and medals.
