New Samurai Game Kashindan
« on: November 10, 2007, 12:15:52 AM »
Okay look at me first post and already hawking my ware's..

Some people may know my Login Name from places like the UKCORD forum or Rackham's EN forum i've been a wargamer for quiet some time...Though recent events in the world of Rackham which has been my main focus of gaming for 4 1/2 years i've had a chance to sit back and look at things once started never completed...

So i've written my own set of Historic skirmish level rules based around the Golden age of the samurai. You army or Kashindan is the personal retinue of the Hero (that'll be you...)

Now i'll quiet admit that History is great but it can get in the way of a decent game so a lot of the real History has been glossed over to make things easier to work and run...and i have added a nice twist to the idea of the round which i know those who have played it have found both annoying and a real moment having to really think what your doing...

You can find out more about the game on the forum here;

http://z11.invisionfree.com/Kashindan/index.php?act=idx

The game is available through Wargaming Online;

http://www.wargamingonline.com/catalog/index.php?manufacturers_id=63

Feel free to take a look join the forum ask questions and anything else wargames love to do..
Become who you really are... [/i]

Hi all:

I recently bought these rules and I think Kashindan is well worth a try. A nice little ruleset with enough detail for some interesting games. I am now planning to get some ashigaru to start a band.

Lupus, I have also done a full spanish translation of the game, including the glossary, for ease of reference with my group. I'd like to send it to you to provide with the material for an original PDF spanish version should like to. Just tell me where to send it.

Thats great its always nice to hear from those who ahve bought it and are playing...May sound an odd thing to sday but feel free to join the Kashindan Forum and join in with the others who have the game...I'm hoping to expand the game with extra's but unlike a lot of people i'd rather add what the players want as i have literally millions of idea's :P

Spanish version would be great not sure how to deal with it as i'm hoping people will buy it though i guess i could offer it to anyone who buys it...

I hope to see more people pick up the game and give it a go...

OK, so how man figures would be needed to get a decent game up & running? Please bear in mind I play almost exclusively solo, so need to buy both sides :(

I'm not too bothered whether or not the  rules are solo-friendly, as there are plenty of solo gaming mechanisms about that can be bolted on to add more fun for the sad & lonely old gits like me.

I've always fancied wiggling my naginata about, so this could be my excuse to buy even more figures to lurk in deep, dark drawers

Cheers,
Ian

I've run a game with 7 Samurai Hero's so ala the seven samurai film..

Normally most people have been using lists of about 12-16 models, which is about 500pts though you could go smaller or bigger...Its only if you go for say Peasants and want a swarm your going to need loads...

Just think that if some customer from Spain or Latin America appears, he/she can buy the translation instead of the english PDF. Just add a link :)

Your more than welcome..

@Keyansark..Sounds like a plan if the stuff makes sense i could even overlay the current English with the Spanish and keep the feel :P

Its always odd as a player i've done stuff myself for a game i love, but until someone does it to you you never realise just how much it means...

I hope to see some of your guys on our forum sharing there views of the game, believe me i'm all ear's  :)

That's my idea. Rich did the same with the .45A demo rules I sent him some time ago.

I'll send you the translation to the e-mail address you provide in the rules. You'll see that I've added a <Foto> (<pic>) tag wherever a picture must be added to keep the organization of the original PDF.

I you think it can be done I can also send you the translation of the cards and counters to provide a full translation.

There is a lot of interest for Samurai-era wargaming in many spanish wargaming forums, so I think you can have some market here...

I plan to write a review for Kashindan in issue 25 of the Cargad e-zine. It will be ready on January-February, as the #24 is about to appear in a week or two and there's no time for another entry. I'll keep you in touch.

Well, I've just downloaded the rules, cards etc, so I'll have a good read-through when I have time. I'm still studying my brand-new Triumph & Tragedy rules, so it may take some time. I'll let you know what I think :)

Cheers,
Ian

I'll add another positive note to the already good list here. I've (so far) only read through the rules, and will be doing some practical gaming this week, but initial impressions are definitely favourable.

Well, I got the rules & have decided to buy some Perry Samurai.

Now all I ned to do is learn how to paint them & make buildings  :(

Does anyone have any tutorials on quick but effective painting of 28s and any links to cardstock Japanese buildings?

I've tried Google, but my head is about to explode with trying to navigate all the Japanese-language websites

Thanks in advance,
Ian
