Polish armored train 53 "Śmiały" finished
« on: August 10, 2011, 01:35:13 PM »
I received this Polish armored train from Battlefront as a gift of appreciation for my work with the "September campaign" book I wrote a few weeks back. To tell the truth I would probably not afford to buy it myself so I'm extremely happy about it and want to extend a special thanks to Steven at WWPD for hooking me up with a Battlefront contact and Chris Townley over at Battlefront for hooking me up with the train itself.

Now the Polish armored train is a huge model, when assembled and standing with each car next to the other the train is 25" long! I also realized I had not been able to see the train in pieces or "heavy WIP" on the internet, only undercoated or fully painted pictures. So I thought it could be interesting to share the process of assembly and show you how each car is cast in various amount of pieces.

Check my blog for the complete set of pictures showing all the pieces before and after assembly and the details on each car and where they go.

Well painting has been on hold for most of the week, but finally finished working on the first artillery car. Remaining 3 cars will be painted up during the weekend and early next week :-)

Very nice. Whenever I see resin right out of the box like that I start to panic. I'm useless at cleaning up resin! I end up accidentally removing rivets and such instead of getting the excess in between them. Grrr.

Nice paint job! Currently doing a Soviet FoW army myself.

Completed painting the last artillery car today and the train is finished. Just need to find a source of 1:100 draisine carsfor my tankettes and Ft-17 support. Full historical and technical description about the Polish armored trains as well as a bunch of pictures of the entire model can be found on my blog:
