IMEX Vikings.  I have the same ones languishing in my hobby room.  Their disturbing habit of breaking waepons has discouraged me.  These look great though.

The Imex Saxons are also good minis, hope to see them soon... Lovely to see some 1/72 20mm plastic figures for a change - of which I am a huge fan for four main reasons namely: 1. scale (often find 15mm too small and chunky looking and 25/28mm too big), 2. price ( it is very possible to put huge armies together, for example 400 to 500 figures for Ģ50), 3. weight (being plastic they do not way a ton like my metal figures, this gives much greater portability and many 20mm metal figures are available to substitute and add to the plastic ranges). 4. vehicles and buildings (for more modern periods like RCW and World wars it is easy to add anything from trains and planes to Tiger tanks and buildings especially given 1/72nd kits and HO 1.76 railway stuff).

I agree, the scale, price and availabilty of plastic 1/72nd figs is the one thing that keeps briniging me back to them. The new Laser printed figs (Zvezda) should make them even more attractive...thier upcoming samurai range looks VERY impressive!!

Be great to see more 1/72 and I love the more sort of rustic earthy tones you used on the Saxons. I also find that for woodwork such as shields and for that matter trees a more grayish tone as opposed to brown works well. Plastic figures sometimes give problems in terms of getting the paint to cover - what method are you using and did you undercoat them in any way? I am currently busy with a multitude of Gallic and Germanic Barbarians at the moment and will be adding to their ranks with the odd latter suitable Saxon miniature.

To base them I use normal acrylic black...made by Marabu...just painted on and brushhed until the details are clearly visible. I use only marabu paints..which are:
1. way cheaper than "specialist" gaming paints...I mean why should buy pots of dribble green or whatever itīs called when I can mix the colour myself??
2. To get the paints to "reacts as the "special" expensive paints do..add window cleaner. Easy
I have never had a problem with peeling paint, and I handle my figs pretty roughly sometimes. The whole of my medieval army got thoroughly mixed, sliding all over their transport cases in the boot of a car whilst being transported to an exhibition once...not one mark on them.
