Ex-Dixon, now Ainsty Merchantman
« on: August 28, 2011, 03:02:01 PM »
Okay, as promised, I finally found some time to shoot a few pics of my Dixon Merchantman - now produced by Ainsty. It (and the figures) are about 10 years old now, so not quite my best painting, nor my best photography either... Was in a bit of a hurry  ::)

Still, it shows the model off to advantage I think  :)

Interestingly, I think the jolly boats are from Ainsty as well, so nice to see that in an act of karma, these products have now been united under one maker...

One day, I will get round to taking pics of my entire fleet and pirate collection :D

Beautiful work there Mon Capitan  :-*  :-*

Did the merchantman have anything done to it or is it 'as bought' in the photos?

I am getting more and more tempted when I see all the lovely boats/ships on here to do some myself  :)

cheers

As it came, James. Except that I bodged the masts and crows nests together myself from the dowel provided, plus twine and some plasticard - although I've just realised you can't see the masts in any of these pics...

Would like to do rigging and sails as well really, but not entirely practical for wargames purposes...

I already used the word "Epic" in a post here recently, but if the word fits... :)

Really excellent, inspiring stuff.  (Do you live in a big house or have separate storage for all of these goodies?   ;) )

Love the figures and the ship. Your not quite best painting is better than most of my best painting.  lol Would love to see more of your collection. Will have to check out the ship at Ainsty, it's very cool. Thanks for sharing.

This sure looks great, a true inspirational post, I might even manage to steal some time away from my my current WWII project and do some piracy business again! I sort of lost my bearings there, but seeing this is like finding the right charts! :)

Thanks for sharing your beutiful figures and models!

Outstanding, ship and crew!

I have a couple of Old Glory ships to paint, but once they are done, well, that is a really nice looking ship...
