Also, with one exception, the poses are all based on contemporary photographs. The figure carrying a weapon on his shoulder is based on the famous picture of an FFL infantryman in Indo-China.

Explains why they lost then, poor weapon handling... 

Even so, he's carrying the weapon using his hand as a counter-weight and not further back which requires effort.

Separate weapons makes a lot of difference actually, I'd assumed that they were fixed in place. I nearly commented that I'd seen the 'cradling weapon' pose before, but on the opposite side.

Consider my comments void if the weapons are separate.

I am getting a set of these to paint up for us in promotional photo's, will be first seen in Round 9 of the LPL starting 29th April.
I am currently reading "Stormfront" by Rowland White, a brilliantly written, superb account of Operation in Oman leading to and including Mirbat. Very gripping.
I have found a company about to release a 1/48th Strikemaster (will post link tomorrow as computer really slow tonight)
Just need to find suitable figures for their opponents.

I am currently painting an advance release of Commando figures British soldiers/SAS, I am ok with the basic uniform but am having trouble finding pictures/color details of their webbing, packs, back packs and putees etc. can anyone help?

As the LPL round has finished I thought I would post up the Picture from that round, very nice figures, but do need a bit of work, the Bren gun looked awkward so it was easy to separate from the fore arm and re-position, and the pistol doesn't sit very well in the hand, John at Commando miniatures is aware of this and more of the future releases will come with weapons attached. Will be definitely doing some more after LPL has finished.

Lovely paintwork but somehow it's hard to get enthused about these figures. They look chunky and poorly posed. Pity.

Having just unpacked a box of lovely Eureka Rhodesian War figures, I can't find much good to say about those fellows.  The look rather like modern dwarves.  I believe the hats should really be the typical boonie hat.

Steady on chaps... You're comparing them to arguably the best 28mm moderns out there - and let's be fair, some of the earlier Eureka sculpts aren't that fantastic by any means. I've definitely seen far worse from other companies too. I think they're off to a good start personally.

The early 25mm stuff from Mike Broadbent? Yes. Alas, Kosta has raised the bar a bit too high. I'm thinking of going down the route of asking him to make some using the dollies for his Rhodesians again.
