Wow, really cool. Some great ideas... I love the tailfin mechanism and the magnets are hilarious. Great painting too!

Next thing in the build que is another larger sub.
My wife broke her fancy hair straighteners and so bought a new pair. They came in a box with an interesting plastic mould. And surprise, surprise I had held on to the old box as well. So I now had two interesting bits.

My idea is for a Whale shape sub.
Cut out bits are just held together with masking tape to get the sizes right.

Last picture shows a figure for scale and some other bits I am going to add.

Cool!!! 8) 8)

What about attaching the flying base further back in the model? Anytime I think of whales I always think of them nose down and blow hole up.

Interesting info but nothing like mine
I don't think mine would actually work :D

Some more progress pictures.
The main body is now glued together. Started adding some windows and a hatch.

On to the tail now.

Yawn, scratch sniff. I was asleep.

That's an ingenious build Colin. Ever thought of being a Blue Peter presenter  ;).
Don't!

I have to ask the obvious question, have you thought of weaponry? I know it doesn't fit in with our rules but a harpoon might be suitably ironic. A whale with a whale hunters weapon!

Are you still going to stick with those bits and pieces for the tail?

Its a holiday up here today so I had a long lie.

Ever thought of being a Blue Peter presenter  ;).

I'll take the job if it is on offer lol

Are you still going to stick with those bits and pieces for the tail?

Going to build torpedo hatches on the front end.
Also still to build the sub eating jaws.
Might think about a deck mounted harpoon, just for show though not for use in the game.
About the tail, have you a better idea.
I am going to work on it today/tonight. I will show you pictures to get your approval before gluing it together.

Here’s the bits I am going to use for the tail.
What do you think?
They are just held in place with masking tape at the moment.
Going to cover the bottle tops in plastic card with embossed rivets to disguise them a bit.

Also start thinking about colours. I am not sure how I am going to paint it yet?

It's great how you've rooted through your own as well as all your neighbour's dust bins for material to that thing. Remember to wash your hands? lol

Well you should know lol lol lol
In Scotland you have to wash stuff before you put it in the recycle bin so your hands don't get that dirty :D

Now that... Is severely cool 8) :o 8). The tail has added so much to that!

What about WW2 airplane colours? Maybe American or Germany? Either dark blue with a light grey/cream airbrushed underneath?

Great stuff Colin  8)

Maybe make that tail a little smaller, it seems a tad large (maybe it's just the photos?).

cheers

James
