VSF: Steam Walker Colors.
« on: September 15, 2011, 09:45:15 PM »
I'm unsure of how I want to paint my VSF British Steam Walker.  The model is a GW IG Sentinel with a Ral Partha British Artilleryman as the pilot.  I was thinking all black with copper trim and bolts but I've done that before on a steam tank.  What colors would you choose?  What do you guys think?

I would try it with dirty metallic. Darker Gunmetal colour with some Brown Ink or just brownish color as background and the some brushing up to the brighter tones.

Later you still can paint some parts with black or dark blue.

One idea I've heard of before was really neat.

A fellow I knew long ago was doing British VSF - only he tried to make it so that all his British units corresponded to real regiments in the British Army. Then any mechanical devices were painted (as you suggest) like locomotives (solid colours, with a binary or monochrome scheme, brass, copper, or gold trim, etc.), only in the appropriate regimental colours rather than anything from a particular railway.

I joined my gun with pirate swords, and sailed the seas of cyberspace.

Thinking about it, when I painted one of Scheltrum Miniatures steam tanks for them I used the GWR  colour scheme.

Not to easy to see in this picture:-
