28mm Gypsies miniatures?
« on: September 16, 2011, 08:41:35 AM »
Hi.

I want to make a Gypsie warband for CiCarpathia, but don't know what minis to use.

I'm aware of the West Wind gypsies:

http://www.westwindproductions.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=2_19&products_id=69

http://www.westwindproductions.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=2_19&products_id=70

And I searched at Reaper, and there are a couple that can be used.

But... Are there any other models that can play the part?

Thank you.
I know you're too old to play with toy soldiers. So give them to me... NOW!

within the Hell Dorado range, you might like Sara Zingaresce : great sculpt for a gipsy dancer, but expensive IMO

Some pirate figures can work (the ones with loose shirts and trousers, headscarfs, etc...) e.g. from the Foundry range.

I would also look at Renaissance Cossacks and Turks, e.g. the TAG range and mix in some of those.

Ral Partha Europe has a female Gypsy figure (dancer) in the DSA range.

RAFM has a gypsy fortune teller among it's witches.

I think Fenryll has some gypsies too.
Back from the dead, almost.

There were some very nice Gypsies in the old Ravenloft sets by Ral Partha. Long OOP but worth looking for.

another dancer (looks like it's easier to find dancing femal characters than prone fighters ...) from Reaper :

There is a german skirmish game, gotterdammerung or something like it, steampuck / vsf in style models.  One of the sets is a band of desert warriros and includes a nice bellydancer that can serve as a gypsy, you might wanna scour evil bay for it as it usually ain`t going to expensive.

No idea of the brand or exact name though, I bumped onto it a year or two ago rather `by accident` when surfing for models

My gypsies from LPL2

Those are really good ones.

From left to right, 3, 4 and 6 appear to be West Wind gypsies.

Number 1 seems to be Hell Dorado - Sara Zingaresce as Penchour recommended, lovely model, but certainly expensive.

The other two (# 2 and 5) I don't recognize. Can you tell us who makes them?

Thanks.

Myrlyn, that's a prety miniature. Are you interested in selling her?

Malamute: Yep, but as they are long OOP, in evilbay can reach VERY HIGH prices.

I checked the girl in the Reaper "Townsfolk 2" set, and it appears to be a pretty fig too:

To all of you, THANK YOU very much.

I know in LAF I'll get the best of advices, and you never dissapoint, please, keep the tips about useful figures coming.

Best wishes.

#2 is from Black Cat Bases and #5 is from Rattrap (distr. through Brigade Games) as part of the "Beast of Gevaudan" set.

could you give me a direct link to the Black Cat figure? Searching the site was not successful, and I can't find her by browsing either... :) Thanks!
