Looking for a nice 28mm Life Guard figure, both mounted and dismounted would be nice. To forestall the wits among you let me clear up what I mean by Life Guard

This is what I'm looking for:

This, while very fine, is not what I'm looking for.

Thank you very much

Mike

Apparently - I assume the second one is the famous Swedish wrestler Leif Gård, isnīt he?

Alright, sorry for that one. Donīt Redoubt have Life Guards in either their Napoleonic or Victorian ranges? I seem to recall seeing them, and they looked rather nice, IMHO.

Thanks for that. I had looked at the redoubt site but didn't see nappy's in the sidebar and missed the picture link.
Were the Life Guards not wearing a cuirass at that time, or is it just not shown well in redoubts photo?

In all the representations of them from Napoleonic times I've seen, I've never seen them wearing a cuirass.

I don't know if anyone makes any different ones. Maybe you could start out from some other cuirassier figure and do a bit of converting?

Sorry, I should have been clearer. I do mean to use these for the Victorian period and it according to my Uniforms of the World book they start wearing the cuirass in 1821 and show a picture of what looks very much like the modern Life Guard dated 1890.

Foundry does not include Heavy cavalry other than dragoons in their Crimean range. Looking at the Perry site I could probably use their Napoleanic French Cuirassier

I did realise what you wanted, I was just pointing out that Napoleonic Life Guard figures would be no use to you.

You won't find them in a Crimean War range, as I think they didn't go to the Crimea.

I don't think they ever served in a campaign wearing their familiar uniform in your photo above. It wasn't until the 1880s that they served abroad again, and  I'm fairly certain they wouldn't have been in that get-up in Egypt and the Sudan.

Which is a bit of a pain, as far as you're concerned, looking for figures as you are.

Lifeguard's and Cuirasses

Just to clear up something re: The Household Cavalry, namely the Lifeguards and the Blues and Royals. They started wearing the cuirass after the Napoleonic Wars ended. It was granted them in honour of defeating Napoleon's heavy cavalry. However it was, and still is only worn for ceremonial duties. The picture you have shown, although modern is very similar to ceremonial dress worn from about 1880 onwards
However, if you want Victorian Lifeguards, but serving overseas, they would be dressed in foreign service dress, although that depends on where and when they are serving.
There is not much about in 28mm in terms of Lifeguards figures in full dress. Not helpful I know, but if you post the details as to where and when I might be able to help with uniform and figure advice.

Thanks, Trooper,

What I want to represent would be Life Guards in full dress acting in their office as Sovereign's Escort for Victoria in the late 1800's.

I managed to pick some up a year or two ago. I believe I got them from the Honourable Lead Boiler Suit Co.

Aaron is correct. HLBSC has just re-released all their British home service troops. They produce Household Cavalry(only mounted) versions, including the Blues and Roylas or lifeguards. :)
There is a pack of two troopers and a pack of three officers including a bugler.
They are exactly as you have requested. The uniform to my knowledge hasnt changed in 100 years.
I put a thread up about this about a week ago including a review of one of the figures.
You need to phone or email them as they are not listed on their website.

Churms is the artist. He's famed for having the most boring, flat and lifeless pictures. Sort of McBride in reverse.

Skrap,

I checked the HLBS website, but could not find any trace of the Lifeguards, in fact they seemed to have reduced their stock considerably and lot of stuff once available has disappeared. I also checked the Redoubt Enterprises site as they do British Infantry in home service dress, but as yet they do NOT do cavalry. Sorry this is negative.
