I have the option of buying a friend's Militia force. They're carrying a Communist standard and as i've always has a sneaking regard for the POUM i did think that has to go!

But it got me thinking about my Brigaders which are carrying the British Battalion standard. I have a spare standard-bearer - there would be nothing to prevent me having interchangeable flags with say the Abe Lincolns etc, the 5th Regiment Militia (yes i know that they're commies [grin]), Peninsular Army and of course the Popular Army

But would they pass as Nationalist Regulars?

The lack of (28mm) Regular infantry for both Nationalists and Republicans is my pet peeve.
To answer you question; frankly, no. Not really.

The most distinguishing mark for Nationalist infantry, especially in the first two years of the conflict, would be the granadero  flared trousers, and I feel that at least 50-70% of them should wear the guerrero tunic and gorilla side cap.

You could use the Empress Falangists, suitably painted, to represent Nationalist regulars in shirt sleeves. Empress also sells separate heads so if you substitute the gorillo heads  with helmeted ones, some more variation is possible.

Thanks Willie

Ok - how about this then. When did the Militia come into conflict with the Republic? Barcelona springs to mind - are there others?

Would i be correct in thinking that the Militia would look more regimented/uniformed by 1937?
