Introducing the Marshal Ney! (it finally has a crew: p.5)
« on: September 28, 2011, 02:44:50 PM »
Hi Folks, I've just started playing gaslight and I'm hooked. I've had a few ideas in the past months but everything has just been sitting around half completed. This all changed with my first game last week and now I'm feeling that urge to get units and models onto the table!!!!!

My first foray into GASLIGHT will be a French Colonial force. I'm going to include units of zouaves, legionaires and various other VSF inspired doodads. But behold! Here is my first finished unit: 1st Company, Josephine Baker Light infantry, lead by the very capable Leiutanant Michelle Noir.

They are armed with spears plus 4 are armed with rifles. They are not known for their marksmanship however, they are worthy opponents in a scuffle. They also sport the traditional green and yellow of the légère

Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.

The figures are indeed Eureka, from the Pax Limpopo range. Colonel Simpson's and Colonel Saunders guards  :). I have mine painted up for Gaslight as well, although I've never used them. Nice job on them, I've never tried flesh that dark. it looks good with the yellow.

I have a few of the troops and the officer plus the good Colonel himself, they are like all the pax limpopo stuff- excellent.

Thanks for the kind replies. I'm working on the colonel at the moment although I am doing him with a French twist.

Have you had a chance to put this unit into a game?  I have a rule, Buck's Law, that indicates that the first time a unit is used in a game, it gets whacked.

I know that law. I think it's just something that gets subconciously built in to every set of rules/game system.

As it was. In their first game they just ran anound the table alot and achieved nothing. On the other hand... My aeronef (also in it's first game) got whacked. I think it's a matter of the nef being more prominent therefore more deserving of greater whackage.

Our games (Melnibonean, Fuzzy, myself and some Prussians) tend to end up with pretty high body counts anyway. I don't think I've had a game with an intact unit yet.
