WARLORD GAMES AND OSPREY ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP!
Warlord Games and Osprey Publishing are teaming up to create Bolt Action: World War II Wargames Rules. Written by veteran game designers Alessio Cavatore and Rick Priestley, Bolt Action is a fast, fun 28mm wargame that rewards tactical play, but doesn't get bogged down with excessive tables and charts. You can find out more here.

Although there isn't a lot more:

The name Alessio Cavatore is enough to put me off. Just look at the videos where he explains his work on the Mantic Games "Kings of War" rules....

Yea I'm somewhat worried by that Alessio is writing some of it. I've lost faith in him after reading the Warpath (or what it was called) rules he wrote for Mantic. However with Priestley being part of it as well I'll try to keep my hopes up and will probably give it a try at least.

Nice to see Warlord producing rules for all their ranges, though.

Its hard to believe that they feel that the market place needs another set of 28mm WWII rules...they seem to be a dime a dozen these days!

I have faith in Rick.  ;) However his latest games are all about HUGE armies with hundreds of minis per side!  >:( :(
Hopefully the WW II game will be smaller...
(I am prefering Platoon level games - like my own ruleset Victory Decision). 8)
cheers and keep on gaming, Agis - https://www.adpublishing.de

They seem to be positioning themselves as the "BattleFront" or the "GW" of 28mm historicals.

Agree with this. If he makes a WW2 game that is as over simplistic as Warpath then I'll not even touch it. The lack of casualty removal he seems to employ will not feel right for WW2 gaming.

They seem to be positioning themselves as the "BattleFront" or the "GW" of 28mm historicals.

I also agree with this, though I like some of their stuff.

The Warpath rules would have been fine and logical, for a game played in 6mm. But to require people to buy huge regiments and play those oversimplified rules was a bad joke (and the way he seemed so overly pleased with how it worked).

One thing that I would perhaps look forward to are the "army books", would be interesting to see what they do with the Early War stuff like the French and the Polish. Maybe the book will make WG complete their miniature lines with additional models due to the upcoming book release. I would love to see a Polish 7TP tank in 28mm  ;D

It will be interesting, but they will have to compete with Rules of Engagement, an exellent game system in my oppinion, however the publishers Great Escape Games seems to be rather reluctant in exposing them self and market their products a bit more, wich they certainly would benefit from I am sure.

Gallows Falls - Western Village

Rome - SPQR & Hail Caesar

Heya

I am not sure what you mean by missing stuff, do you mean theatres, rules, gear, vehicles or equipment?

There was talk on the RoE forum of lists for North Africa, but I've not heard anything about it for a while.

Actually you can do a search for both North Africa and Hungarians on the RoE site, there are pdfs for it I am sure, and the others are in the pipe as far as I know. Not to mention that RoE was released as primarley a Normady campaign, with other fronts and nationalities added in the future. When I compare it to Disposable Heroes, I see a book with a professional layout :-P
