Picking up the brush again...
« on: October 09, 2011, 05:55:06 AM »
I go by Onemanworkshop, but the name is James.
I am an old school gamer since 1980 when I picked up my first pack of Grenadier figures, and have never looked back. While I have been in and out of the hobby, I just can't seem to shake it, so, I admit I am an addict.

Being older now and of steadily lesser intelligence (not much to begin with) I sought a set of rules which were both light, and offered a wide variety of choice. I happened upon Ganesha games' Song of Blades and Heroes. I became an instant fan. While I have had these rules for some time, I have finally gotten around to buying more figures with the intent to play small fantasy skirmish games. I figure I can complete these small warbands without getting burned out, and luckily this has worked out well already.

I just finished my first warband for the game. Using the online warband building tools, I stated out a cool weird ethereal nightmare faction. I sought out figures to fill it out, not caring who made them or what they are made of, their all just fun little toys in my mind. I was going to start a blog to keep track of this stuff, but think I'll just post here in these forums for a bit as I build my collection. In time I'd like to copy Matakishi's excellent website with my own version covering the things I like.

I'll post more about this faction and other junk I paint up in the fantasy section.
Thanks,
James
WHAT do you mean I lost!!! I had MORE fun!

Heya and welcome to LAF!

Just kick back, and enjoy the ride. Plenty of wargamers and lead addicted hobbyists around to share your thoughts with, in a layed back enviroment. The beuty of LAF is the mixture of people and interests I would say, ranging from the strangest of colonial experts to fantastic warhammer fanatics, and everything in between that might catch your interest, hence here I have stayed since I first got pointed over here! :)

Weird indeed, but great vivid colours and a very smooth technique.
Good job you picked up that brush again. Such talent should not lie idle  :)

That is a really unique group there- the vibrant, weird colors and equally weird creatures are beautiful.
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

A very unique collection/force.  I have the face horror (centre back row) and I left it as smoke coloured see-through resin.  I think your colour scheme is much more effective.

Thanks for the great welcome guys.

I'll be sure to get my progress images organized and start posting. One thing I always try to do with my collection is to make it unique and different. I have lots of ideas for these warbands in the future.

Terrain will come eventually. I still have yet to pick up any supplies like foam, or the cool Foam Factory shaping tools. I'd like to do a few themed terrain pieces for each warband as well.

I'll posting to the fantasy section with any new projects I do.
Thanks again!
 :)
