I'm hoping to pick up a copy at Salute.
I thought there was a mention I think of a North Star pre-order deal.

What else ???

Spotted these uglies in the current Dungeons and Lasers: Caves campaign on GameFound.

Obviously, if you're not interested in caves and need your mini's now, wait for retail / skip 'em.

I like those cave monsters. Not keen on the wait. (or crowdfunding, tbh)

I've had good luck with Zombicide Invader and Deep Madness minis. There are ebay sellers parting out the board games and they're usually inexpensive.

Death May Die has a ton of Cthulhu minis, if you can find them separately

Which there turns out to be:
https://www.northstarfigures.com/prod.php?prod=17979

The offer involves the book, one of the Fenris Games Apex  Invesigators packs:

And a monster.

There's a review of the rules in the new WS&S. Pretty complimentary, although the reviewer does suggest a GM would be a good idea, which I'm hoping is not the case.

I dug out some figures from the horror hillock part of my lead mountain, so they shall slowly wend their way to the front of the paint queue.

The GM comment is interesting. I can see why he'd say it but one isn't necessary.
The game runs solo or strictly cooperatively; you just lose any sense of surprise or gradual reveal of dramatic details.

The Narrative portion of the game is going to throw players who are used to scripted campaigns or more comprehensive systems. I have separate one-shots and full cases (campaigns) written and ready to go for anyone who's interested, but space was limited in the main book. Part of hammering out an Osprey Blue Book is deciding what stays, what to abbreviate, and what to leave out.

I'll definitely be interested in those.

Will they be downloadable from a support website?

I'll post a free, one-shot/single mission on my website and the Stalker7 FB Group. Longer campaigns will be available at Wargame Vault.

I'm familiar with Nightwatch, Exploit Zero (Hardwired to me  ;) etc) but is there a write up of a game of WNC anywhere?

Not yet. Not a detailed one, anyway. The few play test games mentioned on the Stalker7 site are deliberately vague on the specifics.

It's modern era Nightwatch with a bit more crunch. If you're familiar with Hardwired, NW TnT, and Insurgent Earth, you know the basics.

Nightmares adds traits to flavor enemies, makes space for little storytelling cut scenes prior to combat, and introduces a little more grit to the hunter/investigator characters and their abilities. It's civilian vigilantes against monsters in a world where everyone is skeptical of both.

I'll post battle reports after the game's UK release.

I have to say I sense a lot of people have a lot of expectations for WNC. I do hope most of them are pleased with it.
