Battle at Mao Li
« on: 25 November 2007, 04:14:49 PM »
OK here comes my first T and T game report

The game took place in the Hamburg Wargaming club last Tuesday.

Heino play the evil chinese Warlrd and I play the British troops

two Traind units of riflemen ,one elite HMG team ,a traind stormtrooper unit with SMG and Leader and a Elite Hero with the Priest skill

2 units of traind riflemen, one unit of traind riflemen with leader and LMG and a Elite HMG
Note The car is not part of the Game  :freak:

The Story
It is 1925 and the British and the USA control the Yangtze River .
In the last 5 years the Opium business is going bigger and bigger and most of the chinese Warlords use the opium as a resource to finance theirs armament.
One of these Warlords is Hei´no he has a bad reputation and is a anti-western dictator.

The Brits make the Plan to slow down his buissnes and destroy his biggest opium resource ,the small village of Mao Li

Mao Li

Hei`No get wind of the British plan and send some troops to in the village they arrive at the same time like the British detachment.
So the Battle begin ........

To win the game you have to control the most of these 3 buildings after 6 turns

The opium storehouse

The  bookkeeper´s yard

The shrine

the Warlord troops deploy at the hill in the center , the jungle on the right and the street at the left .

[/img]

the british troops deploy the same way at the other table side .
You can see the sikh troops at the ganesha temple ruins

The warlord have the first Turn and what is that  :o  :o

All his troops move with a lightnig speed!!!
for a fast move you roll a 2D6 + 6 `for every unit order and he rolls only 5´s and 6´  :?
So the chinese get the best positions in the town .

they hold back the troops in the Jungle

my indian troops try to attack the yard

my British troops get destroyed by the chinese troops in close combat .
The Warlords do that after geting heavy fire of my LMG and a lot suppression markers !!!

So after turn 2 the chinese Warlords get the  bookkeeper´s yard  and the opium storehouse

Turn 3 and 4 wasen´t better for the Brits ,the Warlord HMG get at the Roof of the yard and stard to fire at the Indian troops .

my troops take cover behind a building

My HMG fire at the HMG of the warlords but I only kill one figure and the Warlords pass the morale test.
The sikh troops cross a hill and advance to the jungle .

Turn 5 was the important turn for me the Indian Troops attack the Warlrds at the opium storehouse.
But the chinese hero diden´t want to give up and kills a lot of my boys !!

After a few close combat turns he get killed by the Indians .

The storehouse was my but the prize was to high  the unit was pinnd now  :?

The sikh troops attack the Chinese in the Jungle but they get havy fire from the Rifles and lost a few boys.
then the close cmbat happend .....

I was sure to win the fight but as I see the dice of my opponent I know I am lost !!

the sikh troops  fail the  first moral test and get killd by the warlords .

at turn 6 My HMG controle the shrine but the warlords get the bookkeeper´s yard .
Hei`no move his troops to the opium storehouse  where my pinnd Indian Troops are .
The only way to make the game draw was to recover my troops and avoid the chinese to hold the storehouse.
But I also fail the moral test !! :x

So the game was lost .

After the Battle the chinese make party at the Lotus House

I am sure the British Troops will come Back

Grimm, just for running such a great game I have something for you if you are interested. I found an old Games Workshop Temple dog to go with your chinese. It has your name on it if you want it.

Great report!

I'm sure the British consulate would not take lightly this awful news! is there going to be a retaliation? or has the warlord gained even more influence in the town of Mao Li and reinforces his private army in order to raid some oriental business houses nearby?

Looking forward to ear new histories from Mao Li! :)
Cheers,
Pedro

Hey Grimm

That report was great made the game seem fsst paced and fun to play.

Now I've got to get those T&T rules.

Christmas is coming so maybe I'll get lucky.

Thanks again for the report.

Great report, Grimm!

You have a wonderful terrain set-up and lovely figures there [no surprise   ] and I'm glad to see T&T appears to be working well. I must get a game going myself, once I can find some spare time.

Please post further game reports.

Inspirational!  You'll be wanting commission from the authors, no doubt

Great report, the game sounded really good, its a shame about the dice rolls!

This would be my ideal way of running a campaign, particularly one with as much to offer as Back of Beyond. Thanks very much for sharing with us, Grimm!

I think that's right a multi level / rule based campaign sound like a very good idea.

Like a lot! :)
